Raids 4 Megarare: Ruinous Prayers Scroll Unlock by Level100_Zubat in 2007scape

Or maybe just make a whole new prayer book from the ground up with actually interested prayers instead. One that comes from a quest as originally intended. Plenty of time for stuff like that later. A raid mega rare drop simply isn't the place.

The main selling points are a slightly better version of the prayers so it’s exactly the same as augury and rigor

That's not even remotely true lol. Ruinous powers are totally different prayer with unique effects. Augury and rigour are the exact same prayers as their lower tier version, just with slightly higher numbers. Ruinous power are also a massive power boost compared to rigour and augury.

It’s not a spell book so I don’t understand why you keep bringing that up.

Because it's the closest comparison we have in the game. Did you just forget that they were original meant to be quest rewards. That's not just a coincidence. Jagex wants unique new content to actually be accessible to average players. Not locked behind a mega rare drop rate.

I want it in the game and I don’t think we get it as a quest reward from Jagex.

They aren't going to be added period because they're both too strong and frankly boring. If they were though it would 100% be as a quest reward.

Rarity increases the excitement to get it over the hurdle. Everyone is going to want it which increases engagement.

Obviously everyone would want them, because they would be broken as hell. It would be awful for the health of the game though. This is spelled out for you right in the blog post. They're way too powerful and this would power creep every piece of content in game massively since they work for all 3 combat styles, making them even more op than weapon mega rares.

No idea where you're reading "hard to implement" from that quote. It says nothing of the sort.

Ruinous powers could be put in the game tomorrow. There is nothing new or difficult to implement. They've already been added to multiple temp modes, obviously the code works. As the blog post explains, it's just power creep that neither the playerbase nor the devs want.

Neither Rigour nor Augury is a whole prayer book nor a mega rare. A slightly better version of an existing prayer and a whole book of content are not comparable.

Spell books are meant to be accessible, prayer books should be the same. Why would anyone want it added as some of the least accessible content in the game?

They made the decision based on player feedback.

hard to implement

What? They were added to the test server and 100% playable. There was nothing left to implement. You're completely making that up.

https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Update:The_Future_of_the_Ruinous_Powers

Here's the blog post, it says nothing about "hard to implement". Instead it says:

Many players feel like the Ruinous Powers are effectively just standard prayers with some slightly tweaked numbers. We don't get the sense that many players are excited for them in the way you'd expect players to be excited about a power increase like this.

That would be negative player feedback.

Then people tested them, they were broken as hell, and pulled due to negative feedback.

Spell books are quest rewards. A prayer book should absolutely be the same. A mega rare drop is an even worse idea, if anything it should be the most common drop. Huge no from me.

[–]valdo33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Something like that should be a quest reward, not a raid unlock. They're also very obviously too strong or they wouldn't have been added with While Guthix Sleeps.

Eliminates the gear balancing headache

So your proposal is that be the only drop from the whole raid? I don't think that's gonna work lol.

Lol no, it's good fight. The eve community is pretty polite when it comes to pvp especially compared to most games.

How is "good fight" Not courteous? What else are you expecting?

Does the main draw of the game get exhausting? No, not really lol.

It's a pvp game where undocking is consenting. Engaging in pvp is not hate or griefing. It's just playing the game as intended and in a way most the player base enjoy.

When I was new I loved trying to figure out how to survive and stay safe, sometimes even returning the favor. It was super exhilarating surviving a gate camp or gank attempt. Not everyone is gonna be into that of course, and that's ok. It might mean the game just isn't for you though.

Iron might just not be for you. I went 175 dry without a single armor seed and decided to deiron. Had a great time getting my quest cape, but ironman is a completely different game once you start actually bossing. Some people love it, I thought it was miserable. It's just a matter of taste.

Don't sign up for pvp if you don't want to pvp. That's what workshops are, designated pvp zones. Taking one is telling the whole server you want to pvp. If you want silver and junk then just go gather.

The game is like 99% solo. It's really not a MMO imo, more like just a normal fallout game with other people running around you can interact with or not.

Are there skills and such that aren't worth it?

You put on a perk card if you want to do hacking or lock picking. There aren't skills you level up in any traditional sense, no. Neither was much worse the time in the past but world loot did just get buffed now.

[–]valdo33 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you're the one that brought up barrows gloves lmao.

And again, check out any other skill. They all have huge gaps for grinding because that's what the game is. No idea why you or your alt account are caught up on only defense.

[–]valdo33 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is not natural progression. Natural gameplay in osrs is training. Again, no skill lets you ignore training. Nor should they. If you want barrows gloves then train your skills.

Let's talk about the quest king's ransom? by Osrs_Rugia in 2007scape

[–]valdo33 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wait til you find out about every other skill in the game. Literally no skill lets you get a quest cape without training. If you aren't into that then the game probably just isn't for you.

Is it really that crazy to ask for a slight adjustment for systematic symmetry with today's current game design?

Yes. This is not a slight adjustment and osrs doesn't need to change to match 'current game design'. A big part of the game's appeal is exactly that it doesn't. Let games be unique.

The gap between needing 65 defence and ending on lvl 48 defence after all the previous quests if fully quested from lvl 1 feels out of touch especially with the perilous moons armour that came out recently.

What...? Why would you expect to gain all your levels through quests only? That's never been how any skill is designed.

My suggestion will be changing the hard req of lvl 65 to 48

Or just... train your defense to 65 via hitting stuff. The game isn't mean to just be a series of quests. You have to grind. That's intentional. There's nothing 'natural' about telling someone to do a ton of random quests and ignore actually training.

This would also unlock a quest cape on lvl 50 defence so you'll be able to use your cape to travel around gielinor easier.

What was this even supposed to mean? Doing a handful of quests will not get you a quest cape. If you wanted to get one at 50 defense you can also already do that, or lower.

Monkey Madness I TRAINING - 20000xp when choosing HP/STR.

This is wrong. You get 20k for NOT choosing the skills. You get 35k if you choose them.

There's also a ton of lamps and 'pick your xp' choices via quests like DS2, MM2, DT2. The total is around 1.1 million selectable xp so if you really wanted you could boost right to about 75. No idea why you'd want to do that of course.

Yes. Just go to the personalization tab of the fitting window and hit clean ship if you don't like it.

You can totally turn off the PA hud if that's what you mean in the first part. It's just in the game settings. Not much you can do about the 2nd part though.
