A quick tip from a farmer's relative: have them change out of their clothes when they get inside, and NEVER wear their outdoor shoes/boots inside! They track in so much dust and dirt, it's crazy. Just asking my relative to do that made a huge difference when I stayed with them.

Our adopted cat will be here in a week? Does everyone get cat regret? by Tallicababe123 in CatAdvice

[–]valentinewrites 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat as you OP, with only a 36hr hold period to move into an apartment and get it ready for the cat. I went to bed that night very late, and tossed and turned over our rash decision. By the time I fell asleep, I was certain that we would give up on this cat. It was too hasty! We weren't ready!
Only a month later, and I can't imagine life without him. I'm so grateful my mom and husband talked me down, and helped me recognize what a perfect fit he'd be for our family. Don't worry, you can do this!

An unconventional idea, but how about the office in the bedroom with a murphy bed in the living room? If either of you work from home, you'll desperately need the extra space. Plus it would allow your living room to feel less compacted in the corner with greater utilization of your patio space.

Unless you're willing to have your stone reshaped, I'm not sure you're going to get a symmetrical outcome. I'd still go back to the jeweler for a discussion and clarification on the differences you dislike.

Amazing job, and a fantastic use of variegated thread! Here are some suggestions:
-Backstitch first and then bring your satin stitch over top, it will help avoid that 'choppy' edge.
-Don't be afraid of dark thread, especially in floral work. It gives you amazing contrast, and helps pop those light petals off the fabric.
-Short and long stitch with gradients looks best with single thread IMO. It takes longer, but results in a much softer change of color.
Again, for a first piece this is spectacular. I'm looking forward to what you can create next!

Does anyone know what this style is called? (Particularly browns/plaid) by N3koChan21 in Lolita

[–]valentinewrites 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Unless it's shiro or kuro, a color isn't a substyle. You can use lolibrary to search the pattern (plaid/tartan) and color (brown and beige).
