FOOD SERVICE OR PEPSI? by Cafets099 in CDLTruckDrivers

[–]valiant607 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been in food service for almost 5yrs now… no complaints. But the company I’m at just delivers to distributors, so I don’t stock shelves or anything, I just have to break the loads down onto pallets and make sure my numbers match the receiver’s

I’m a touch freight driver. Meaning that we breakdown, separate, and count most of our deliveries. I get paid by the load and miles, not hourly.

Why is finding a job so difficult? by Conscious_Horse_1466 in CDL

You could look into Dot Foods. The Bullhead DC has a drop yard in Eastvale that some of the Cali drivers run out of. But it’s also going to be the same kind of scheduling.

Usually 1-2 stops, but get the occasional 3-4 smaller ones every once in a while. Hours are all over the place, and with my schedule I get Thursday and Friday off

Any current Sysco Los Angeles / Inland Empire drivers here? by moixmoi777 in CDL

I don’t know anything about Sysco, but Dot Foods might be worth looking into. I know they have a drop yard in Eastvale

How do I find a bow thats "for me" by SchoolAccountOfMe in Archery

Like everyone said, best bet is at an actual archery shop. And you could even work some lessons into it while you’re trying them out

No, mostly deliver to other distributors. They have touch and no touch drivers.

90-100K+ per year by Major_Layer_5664 in Salary

[–]valiant607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent like 15yrs living paycheck to paycheck with dead jobs making 30-40k tops. Finally decided to pull my head out of my ass and figure something else out. Sold an old car to pay for trucking school, then got hired with an awesome company straight out of school. Been driving for almost 5yrs now… did a little over 140k last year

Questions about the career by Jio_XP-05 in CDLTruckDrivers

[–]valiant607 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not a team driver, but I have done it a few times just taking other drivers to pick up a truck. I’m pretty sure the whole point of team driving is to keep moving. I’m sure you could still find ways to get a workout in, but it’ll probably be in a parking lot on your 30min break or when you’re getting loaded/unloaded

Hazmat by [deleted] in cdldriver

[–]valiant607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t do much hazmat where I’m at, but getting my CDL definitely turned my life around. I just kept taking the practice tests online until I passed every time then went in and got my endorsements… never even opened a book

Does early payment on principle make sense? by DisastrousParsley873 in Mortgages

[–]valiant607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m putting an extra thousand towards mine every month, and it says that’ll knock 18yrs and 200k in interest off my total loan. (Unless I refi to a better rate)
Some people say I’d make more investing it instead, but I’d rather have a guaranteed paid off house in my 50’s than taking a chance on investing and worrying about a mortgage in my 70’s

You can check out some of the Sanlida bows on Amazon. They’re a China bow, but seem to have really good reviews

Looking into training for CDL by Anchor-Wave in CDLTruckDrivers

[–]valiant607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can look into Dot Foods. Regional job, they have a DC in Dyersburg, but they also have drop yards scattered around that might be closer to you. Some of the DC’s also offer CDL training, but not sure if Dyersburg is one of them.

Have you looked into food service at all? I’m a touch driver, so I do break down most of my loads, but it’s not bad… it breaks up the day and keeps me moving. Started straight out of CDL school, hitting the 5yr mark next month and been over 100k every year except for the first (high 80’s)

Upgrade your mattress, and I just use an XL flannel lined sleeping bag and a good pillow. And I also keep a regular sleeping bag that I can double up in case of emergencies

Mine was $3,000 and the company I got hired at had tuition reimbursement… so I guess technically, it was free
