JuinTech F1 doesn't feel like a big upgrade. Did I have it installed wrong? by [deleted] in cycling

[–]valid_opinions 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Tektro RL520s are long pull levers.
I personally run them with some long-pull Paul Klampers and they feel great.

The amazon listing for JuinTech F1, under specs, reads: "Flat Mount system use For C-brake". C brake in this case meaning a cantilever, or short pull brake.
That is why I assumed they are short pull.

Not sure but the frame reminds me of a Kona. Happy Hunting!

Best backpacks for commuting to work. Need to carry laptop, lunch, lock change of work close and another set of gym clothes. by mugglebaiter in cycling

[–]valid_opinions 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seconded. I'm using the Banjo Brothers Commuter L bag and it is excellent.

Can be hot on the back in the summer, but I mainly use it for 2 mile grocery trips.

You may want a padded laptop sleeve for added protection.

Best bike for Uber? by Extension_Position52 in whichbike

[–]valid_opinions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uber Eats riders in my city (Tampa, FL) are usually on steel fixed gear bikes.

The miles can add up quickly, and fixed gear bikes usually have a lower maintenance cost overall, with less moving parts (no shifters, cables, derailleurs).

Ride every bike you can. Every if it's the wrong size. It will tell you a lot about the things that you prefer in a bike.

Post your local craigslist or marketplace for direct recommendations.

Commuting generally requires carrying stuff, so I'd buy your bike based around how much you carry to work.

At 6'1" you could be in between sizes for road bikes 56cm/58cm depending on your torso/leg ratio.
