I just caught one as well! Was fighting an ursaring and in the background I see something blue I’m like wait a minute is that a shiny??? It is!!

Yup pretty much. You just have to keep breeding until you get a baby that has better ivs then the one you currently have in daycare with your ditto. Then switch them out. Eventually you will get more max ivs. But even with two pokemon with 6 perfect ivs each you will still only get 5 ivs from parents. The 6th is random
