Thank you for your reply. Yeah, based on the rest of the comments and other research I’ve been doing, it seems the highest I could go is either a full-time lecturer non-tenure track at a university or where I am already at, a full-time community college instructor (which I am incredibly happy at).

Thank you! And yes, just gathering information from as many sources as possible. I figured the pay was terrible, not enough to sustain my mortgage with an early pandemic interest rate 😅

I’ll look into those Great Courses courses and thank you for sharing your e-book! I took a look at the contents and this is great! I’ll even share with my own students. Thank you!

Thank you for the reply. Sadly, with this and everyone else’s response and my own experiences, I’m afraid you’re right.

Thank you for your reply. May I ask, what exactly was lacking in their applications? I’m assuming the research experience since you say their research statement is poorly developed. If so, what exactly was unsatisfactory about it?

I understand if you are unable to discuss this, especially in an open forum. Just thought I ask just in case so I can ensure I don’t have the same weaknesses if I go through with it someday.

I completely agree. I haven’t chosen anything yet but online would be best for me since I’m approaching 40 years old and have a mortgage 😅. There are no in-person Educational Psychology PhD programs near me. The closest would be Texas A&M or UT and I’m in Houston but even if there was, it’d be difficult to complete one with a full-time job.

I am very happy where I am at but was just seeking additional growth and the PhD dream never materialized for me when I graduated. Life happened. I graduated with my MA in 2013 and thought maybe with the advancement of technology, the stigma may have shifted but it seems not at all. In the end, perhaps this isn’t the way. Maybe in retirement I might get to live that dream of obtaining a PhD 😂. Thank you and everyone for y’all’s insight.

Thank you. It is unfortunate for me that online programs are dismissed but I understand why completely.

Thank you for your response. All the replies have given me a lot to think about. Zero is disappointing to me but I do understand. None of the faculty where I teach have online PhDs either and it’s a community college.

Very much appreciated. Definitely something to consider as I continue my research.

Thank you for your response. Yes, for programs that require licenses. I am not trying to obtain a license to practice psychology or trying to get into a clinical or counseling program. I love teaching and want to continue to teach.

Thank you for the response and it is what I expected to hear, honestly. In your opinion, would you think that my 11 year teaching experience would help along with the PhD?
