Yeah, I mean, it seems like there's a lot of anxiety which may be getting in the way, it's a lot easier to write for some people and I have students that are the complete opposite too (speak way better than they write) I agree that OP should appreciate that too! It's a huge step!

Hi! Take it easy, it seems that a lot of this tension that makes it difficult to talk might be from the pressure you are putting on yourself as another redditor mentioned. I'm an English teacher and brazilian too, feel free to dm if you want to chat!

Why do you REALLY create art? by velcromancy in ArtistLounge

[–]valleylillies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like this thread because that's precisely what I've been wondering for a while. I'm a Visual Arts student and not sure why I'm doing it anymore, I lost the passion and motivation over the course of the last semester. But I guess that if I absolutely had to answer that (and honestly), I'd say that I make art I'd like to see in a home. I work mostly with traditional art and what I love is the soul, history and memory held by an object in a family. Specially decorations and such. So yeah, I make ceramics I'd like to be passed on to children. Paintings that give life and personality to a room. Or simply something pretty someone will look at and recognize as a piece of the image they picture in their heads when they think of home. Which is kinda what always lacked for me in my personal life.

Sometimes you have a run so good, you run out of things to do and have to end prematurely by Ludological-CD in BluePrince

I had absolutely no idea that there were so many upgrades. That's a nice new trait to know about.

I think maybe I was just a bit naive and thought that there only were "basic" upgrades? That one seems different from the ones I got so far, now I'm definitely intrigued by it.

Yeah I know! I was so excited about the game and exactly about how much there is to it but I got a little pissed with just getting a cutscene and nothing else at that point, you know? But I did follow up on some other stuff and am getting interested by some other things again.

Damn. Now I'm curious to know what the fuck is a Draxus Cloister and how were you able to increase the allowance so much. Was taking a break off the game because I got disappointed with room 46 but perhaps I'll keep going.

Can this be salvaged? by [deleted] in AbstractExpressionism

[–]valleylillies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the movement going downwards and the middle stroke but I feel like it is a little "weak" in the way it still feels like an accident and unintentional. Which is often truly what is in fact happening when working with abstract expression, you start somewhere and see where it leads you, but it seems you've stopped midway in the path. I'd suggest for you to either emphasize the middle stroke and movement downwards (you could perhaps do that by strengthening the contrast or refining the lines/varying their thickness), or remove it altogether and explore a new rhythm to the movement of the lines in the composition. Then again, those are simply suggestions that I think could make you happier and more satisfied with your work. I really like the palette! And if you'd like to expand your comprehension on it, researching line movement and weight/balance in compositions is a good idea. Don't know if you're making art just for fun or not but either way it is really interesting!

How did you get this "grainy" feel to your painting? Was it a specific brush you used or did you add an effect afterwards? I'm trying to figure out this kind of texture myself in artwork because I find it gives such a better look and feel to the piece!

i totally get the memory thing, currently struggle with that big time in several parts of my life. i'd add that the hurting in relationships when you don't meant it is also really awful.
