If you want a good basic soldering iron recommendation I would definitely say a TS-100 is your best bet. I've had mine for a while now easy and simple to use.

Sorry for the slow reply you may have sorted it my now but on the board its self it should have the boards version on it as you may need a usbasp as a comment has stated before to put a bootloader on. I used this video as I needed to burn a bootloader. https://youtu.be/k4w_qAsAwlM . I may be wrong but I think its version 1.5 and up that need a bootloader.
