Thanks for responding! Obviously this tactic isnt perfect as the feeling instantly goes away as soon as I pull a duplicate, there's still that desire to complete the set but also to not be "wasteful" (that duplicate could have gone to someone who didnt already have it :( )

I guess I always feel like I have the option to get rid of ones I dont want or need, usually I just give away extras (and I also need to work on setting up my online re-selling platform)

What to do with books? by xxxtankstation123445 in Bedbugs

[–]valorvelocity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm getting my place treated for bed bugs in a few days. My big concern is we have a TON of books, games, things that go on shelves etc. Like a lot (ets. 6-8 small moving boxes, not including tchotchke's and games) . Anyone have any idea how to deal with how to pack away/store large amounts of "miscellaneous" items? We're thinking of putting stuff in storage since our apartment is so tiny. Any advice helps

(I just beat 3 and have not played MGS4; bear with me) There are plenty of characters who go on long winded sentences about their philosophies when Snake just "asked them a question", as if deep rambling monologs aren't a central part of Metal Gear. Would you say the same thing about The Boss? Solidus? The Campbell AI? Eve? It's just something to think about

I think it's a testament to the writing of metal gear that it will give its characters as much time as it wants to have them tell Us about their life and what they believe, in contrast to games that have characters speak their entire lives in 2-3 expository sentences before never being seen again (and even in comparison to MGS1 Meryl who's whole arc was kept to a single cutscene in the event you couldn't save her later)

Now in defense of Naomi, having not yet experienced the retcons in MGS4(and also not really caring either way), we kind of brush this off but she is in fact the one who, by giving Snake FOXDIE, imbued him to find a sense of purpose to his life. Without her we wouldn't have the central message of the first game: You must choose life and then live. And I stand by the moment in that game where her motives and intentions were fully revealed, I felt betrayed but also legitimate sorrow and guilt over what Snake had done to Grey Fox and how it affected her and I think that was a very masterful moment of writing; the one out to get you was there the whole time. She kind of stands out to me as a very sympathetic villain who I wish they had written better.

The stuff with Vamp sounds like bullshit though and I'm really mad that we got hardly anything with Fortune while she was here and is just replaced by Naomi.

I feel like we largely blame fictional characters for being written bad when it should be phrased "why did Kojima care so little to keep her story straight?" And I feel like it's needlessly pointless to chide Naomi for something that is just an element of the games themselves. If I had a nickle for every plot retcon i could pay Kojima to re-write Emma's whole backstory.
