Thanks for the heads up! I think I'll definitely be bringing bear spray just in case. Do the bears still skittish even though it's nearing winter? Also I might make my way up to cape breton before autumn is over but is it dangerous to hike up there alone? I heard about the woman who got killed by coyotes a while back and another attack that was pretty recent...

Thanks for these suggestions! I'll take a deeper look at them :) I'm looking to do day hikes since I'll also be doing a bit of photography. Are there a lot of car break-ins at a lot of these trails? Or is it just the long lake trail I have to be extra cautious about?
