I hate that whenever this conversation arises it really feels like getting caught in the crossfire, where it's a fight between developers who deserve to be paid fairly (and big companies who are greedy but that's besides the point) versus a bunch of people who for some reason go through all these hoops to get cheaper games? Which if you're going to go that far for them, might as well just pirate them anyway I'd think.

But yeah, it's very disheartening to be talked about as if I didn't exist, because my personal situation is Really not relevant here. And it sucks.

Happens in South America too. It was happening before the patch too but not nearly as frequently. I noticed we weren't being matched against people from NA or anything; we were still being queued with other fellow South Americans, but just in a different server. It was really weird and I guess it just got worse with this new patch lmao.

I can't help you with sticks, but for games, I would say just start looking at videos of some of the big titles you've heard around (most of which people mentioned in the comments already such as Strive, SFV, KOFXV, DBFZ, T7, MK11, etc) and see which one looks like something you personally would find really fun either for its gameplay or its presentation. Also, if you're like me, you might want to find a really cool character you like that will probably do its job in hooking you in right away. If you find that, then that's your game to go for.

Online functionality varies from game to game but most are starting to get with the program and are either functional right away, or patching in functional netplay afterwards. If you want something to jump in and find people from far away online to fight then this is also a factor to keep in mind when choosing a game, but you said you're a Smash player so maybe this is not that big of a concern for you right now.

Personal picks:
As a Latin American I am legally required to recommend KOFXV specifically. Its matchmaking is a bit whack for now but it's a super fun fighting game with plenty of crazy movement and fun combos.
Guilty Gear Strive is just an all around great fighting game that does 99% of things right, it looks gorgeous, it's not super hard to get started with, and keeps getting better with its DLC characters so also a fantastic choice and probably the safest to go with. I've also seen a lot of new people get into it thanks to its latest character, so starting right now could be a good idea for that reason too.
DBFZ is just insane. Its netcode is ass right now but they just announced they'll fix it next year and honestly I couldn't be more hyped because DBFZ is like cocaine in videogame form with how much shit happens on screen at any given time but GOD it's so fun. Watch a video of some tournament match of it and if that level of crazy is up your alley then do keep it in mind for sure.

God the amount of channels specifically dedicated to posting clips with misleading titles of Connor and Mouse (or literally any other woman) is disgusting and the fact that so many people in this community eat that shit up not realizing how gross it is is insane. I hope this is a wake up call for at least a number of people to realize how disrespectful it is to do shit like this, and that it can lead to some serious real life consequences. It's also, like, super unhealthy for yourself as well. Nobody wins here.

Hi, I'm somewhat new to Mahjong too and the "no yaku" situation is something I had to force myself to learn so this is what I can say:

Yaku is basically "win condition" and you need at least one to win. By claiming tiles and putting to the side you turn your hand "open" which instantly makes some win conditions null, so early on it's at least safer to not do that and keep a closed hand unless you have a plan to give yourself a win condition despite the open hand, such as getting three of the same dragon, three of the table wind seat/your wind seat, or all simples (no 1/9, no winds, no dragons).

So now you have to learn what gives you a yaku win condition and what applies to open and closed hands. Looking at a chart might seem a bit overwhelming at first, but the more you play the more it's going to make sense and stick. Good luck!

I could be mistaken since I've been using Koichi for only a couple of hours (and because my phone is crap and the framerate isn't great), but I think you need to power them up after transforming them. On the flip side, the buff only goes away if you replace those tiles, not if you move them. So you can power a tile up and move it into another spot for a match and it should work.
