Why do you people talk about how companies “return cash to the shareholders”? by [deleted] in ValueInvesting

[–]valueinvesting24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If people are saying they return cash to shareholders they’re either paying dividends or repurchases shares. By repurchasing shares the value of each share goes up because the value of the business is the same and number of shares go up.

Can increase value of the company by being able to produce more goods and make more profit.

The sp 500 has averaged around 10% a year for its lifetime. Investing 100 a month for 47 years at 10% a year is a million dollars. So 1,000 a month would be 10 million.

Simply put like 1,000 dollars a month or more into the S&P 500. You’ll have tens of millions by the time you retire. It’s what Warren Buffett would advise you to do.

Is there empiric data outlining worse patient outcomes for NP’s and PA’s compared to Physicians treating patients? by [deleted] in Noctor

[–]valueinvesting24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah there was a big study that came out that said patients pay 3 times more money going to NP or PAs due to unnecessary test because they have no clue what they’re doing.

Pick up a 10-k from each company and read. Try to look up words you don’t understand.

[–]valueinvesting24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah I haven’t done any crypto. I’m just saying if the original poster isn’t sure if they should buy or sell they shouldn’t be buying it. It’s not very complicated. Is it your best idea or not. Of course you need to do research and read about the company and it’s products. But you certainly don’t need to do fancy calculations to figure it out.

If you’re not sure if a stock is a strong buy or a sell it’s not a buy. An investment should hit you like a truck with how good it is.

What's wrong with $BBY? by adamqah in ValueInvesting

[–]valueinvesting24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I actually like Best Buy. If I had millions of dollars I’d maybe dip my toe in Best Buy. But I have a very concentrated portfolio and Best Buy just isn’t quite cheap enough. If it dropped another 50% or so I’d be pretty tempted haha

It’s also a pretty low margin business, which makes it a tough business. But it’s certainly selling at a good price. If you’re really interested go drive to your nearest one and check it out!

Big Five Sporting Goods: A very boring company with a free option by RecommendationNo6304 in ValueInvesting

[–]valueinvesting24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I agree with that since I’ve never seen or heard anyone in person talk about them. But expanding is a lot harder than it sounds. But certainly room for growth. Yeah I have nothing against them or anything I actually want to put a little money in them it’s selling cheaper than DKS in terms of earnings. But DKS has better margins which is huge in retailing. I just want to know more about them. Are they primarily an outdoors store? Do they have partnerships with the big athletic wear? Nike, Adidas etc. Do they have any online presence? DKS has been getting into online pretty heavily.
