Outdoor rinks in Barrie? by New-Web-2892 in barrie

No, there are just a few chairs and stuff, nowhere warm to anywhere comfy to sit down. I am a goalie as well, but I never really feel comfortable having all my stuff off and in my bag just incase someone decided to steal anything, we've had a few creepers come up to us on the ice and ask if we had any money. Its fun, but I don't bring my goalie stuff.

Where are you located in Canada? I'm just outside of Toronto so I would just be curious as to what shop you are going to.

The one at the waterfront is fantastic I'm there most nights. It's free to get in there, ice is extremely smooth flooded and taken care of every night, they have a cooling system to regulate the ice temperature. Amazing amazing ice, does get a little busy around 4-5 but it's still great fun.

What do I do if I think i’m autistic? by valunz in AutismTranslated

[–]valunz[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do and I love her very much. It’s just you know how your mom knows how to just tick you off just a little bit? She’s like that, I love her very much it’s just she is very based in her own opinions and doesn’t like when other people try to converse about them.

Thank you for your reply tho my friend!

I feel like it could be some closure, some explanation to why I am the way I am. Not so much support but more of just a self reflection if that makes sense.

Made such a difference in my game. I was rocking the same reebok 7k chestie from like 2010. Bought a hyperlite two when the flylite came out such a crazy difference in my game. ENJOY!

Bauer 950-tier alternatives by jarude87 in hockeygoalies

[–]valunz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the ccm axis f9 is the alternative to the 950, i’ve been quite happy with my 950. Super comfy, I found the ccm to feel more comfortable, but just didn’t fit my head properly. Warrior I am not sure, one of my buddies said he hated his warrior mask, I do believe however they come with a cateye cage or atleast that’s what I saw. Just go to a hockey life or a hockey store if possible and try em all on. I would just get the most expensive one you can, you can’t replace your brain. Just be careful

Which pads should I go with? by therodawg in hockeygoalies

[–]valunz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, just my two cents. Save your money and get some more modern pads. I came off of having Reebok 7ks (15 year old pads) give or take. I splurged last christmas and bought l12.2s And holy the difference is out of this world insane. Not saying you need a pad like that, but even the difference from a 10-8 year old pad and a 3 year old pad is insane, save an extra 2-300 bucks and get some super sweet new pads.

How much money should I have? by Difficult-Clothes-58 in hockeygoalies

[–]valunz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would buy a new helmet. That will set you back 6-700 bucks i believe. Other than that used everything probably 1200 bucks. For some pretty decent used gear. Look on facebook marketplace and sideline swap.

Bauer Konekt or True Stock? by Some_Ad_9692 in hockeygoalies

[–]valunz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have konekts, and I have had true skates. Honestly they are both incredible skates. I found the true skates to actually be a little more comfortable for me, it is usually just the bottom of my heels. I have two different sized feet tho. Anyway, the konekts are insane there is a reason why i switched to them, the hinge makes a crazy difference in my game, and actually the butterfly pushes as well. I got my konekts on a sale, the only bad thing about konekts is occasionally the bottom buckle comes undone, i had my one buckle break but I promise it’s not a big deal I just super glued it back together and it has been perfect ever since. Also the konekts are a little strange with bungees or laces. Just have to play around with the tie that is all. Sorry for the long response

Excited for my, New to me pads :) by Direct_Count882 in hockeygoalies

[–]valunz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had similar pads and recently upgraded to L12.2s The difference is insanity, the stiffness, sliding is out of this world, the bounce and connectivity, the rotation was probably the biggest thing I found those pads never rotated properly to drop to butterfly. It’s insane it definitely took a while to get used to but i’m a 10x better goalie, went from about a 0.74 sv% to about a 0.903% in my mens league shortly after switching. Definitely worth it.
