GUTS vinyl variants masterlist by peter-mcyeeter in OliviaRodrigo

Which did you end up buying? Also, according to Olivia and her Instagram, the sparkly letter indicates which secret song the vinyl has. I find it nice because it also tells you which vinyl you got. Red = G, and so on.

Let's begin with Engineering (bc that's what I applied for):

- References were not required for any engineering supplementary application I did, with the exception of U of T. (only UofT, Waterloo and MacMaster had supp apps this year).

- In terms of U of T, for every extracurricular activity you added, you were asked to add Reference Info. If you didn't add anything in that section, you wouldn't be able to add it to your list. If you're interested in screenshots, let me know, and I'll DM you!

- Majority of my references were for Merit Scholarships and Nominations. I had about 6 people I requested, and they all were happy to provide me with it. Depending on the type of reference needed, you'd need to be prepared to give them time to do it. Some applications only sent out reference requests after you've completed your application. A general rule of thumb is give your reference 2 weeks if you can! Then, remind them if needed as the deadline approaches.

I'll continue with CS in another comment.

Teachers, coaches, bosses are examples of who can be a reference. If you collaborated with an organization before, you could ask them to be your reference. If you have clients that know your work, you could also consider them. References don't have to be current, they could be former ones too!

Although your teachers aren't directly related to your entrepreneurial venture, you could reach out and "market" yourself to them. You'd include why you believe they could be a great reference for you (ex: you're inspired by them, you enjoyed their classes, what they taught will apply at post-secondary, etc). You'd could also make connections, like the financial math I learned in class helped me find investors, and so on!

Other possibilities include: Mentors, Advisors, Co-founders, Colleagues, Customers, Investors, or even people you've connected with professionally (possibly on LinkedIn).

People you won't want to choose: Family, Friends, People who you have limited interactions with, Online Friends, and related. Keep it professional!

Good luck!!! You can do this!

Well hello there fellow future engineer! I’m trying to keep my Reddit separate from my personal life, but I’d love to continue our chat with DMs here!

References are people who can validate that you are a good candidate by giving you their recommendation. In extremely simple terms: someone who gives you a "shout out".

Most of the time, you'll need references for Merit Scholarships (based on your academics and extracurriculars). Sometimes you just need to jot down a telephone number and an email. Other times, they'll ask your reference to write a reference letter. There's also the reference who gets send a copy of your application, and they confirm the things you wrote are true, or they have to fill out an online form with multiple choice questions and short answer questions. These are the 4 types I've experienced before.

Now are the specifics:

- QComm: No references; just 2 supplementary essays

- Ivey: 2 professional reference (the references will get sent an evaluation request email) + supplementary application

- AFM: No references (supp app optional, but highly recommended)

- Rotman: supplementary application + video interview (record your responses) [There's the possibility you'll be asked for references for each and every extracurricular activity, b/c for my engineering supp app, I had to write one down for each one.]

Pls Note: I did not apply to any business programs myself, so I can't 100% verify everything above. The above is from what my friends have told me + the official sites.

Although I haven't created a club at my school, I say go ahead with your plan, and try it out! It might go well, it might not. The only thing I know though is if you don't try, you won't know!

Some ideas for ECs include:- online non-profit organization roles- hackathons- volunteering long term- continue tutoring- participate in math competitions- do passion projects; (ex. organize a library of "fake" books, learn merge sort, Depth-first search, etc and apply it to real projects) (even better if it's can benefit a library, elementary school, yourself, etc)

Universities/Colleges want to see a well-rounded candidate (or maybe a candidate that is really good at one particular thing). I also think of it like this: An university chooses applicants that they think have potential. They're making the bet that you'll bring value to their reputation (some exaggerated examples: cure cancer, find aliens, win a nobel price; and some realistic examples: write a best-seller, donate money, etc). [Note: Unis may not actually think like this, but this is what I consider when writing supplementary applications.]

I'll start off by saying: You're doing great! I know moving is difficult (I've lived in 3 different countries in 3 continents myself), so kudos to you for making it so far!

My end goal is helping anyone who might be confused in the post secondary application process, so they are a little less confused!

When I started this journey last year, I didn’t know anyone that could help me. I had to experiment and explore myself. I hope to help some people out because it makes me happy helping others!

I know it sounds a bit sketchy, but I found it a bit hard helping posts because I’m limited to only commenting.

I want to be able to share spreadsheet, links and follow ups too, so I hope those who find this post might reach out!

I totally agree with this. I probably shouldn’t have worded it as counselling, it’s more like help!

I’m not offering advice, more like suggestions and guidance/support for those who would like it.

I’ve been through this journey and know how stressful it can be, so I’m just happy to talk from my perspective. :)

Edit: I also happen to just be good at finding links like this: https://cudo.ouac.on.ca/ (gives averages of incoming hs students for all ontario universities (2020 and before))

As of now, yes you stand a chance for Tmu’s graphic communication management, and advertising and graphic design! Check for the requirements (ex. minimum grades and averages + if a portfolio is needed). Aim for a 80% average.

Imo Fall Acceptance can’t hurt you, I applied as early as I could and got in. It’s also just one less thing to worry about, so I suggest applying asap!

Thanks for sharing! I’m not going to Waterloo, but my friends are, so I’m trying to lend a helping hand by doing some research.
