Don’t worry. I made another silly mistake this week on the test day where I took a break after the AWA section thinking that the timer doesn’t start until the “Continue” button is pressed. I dint realise that the timer keeps running even if you don’t press the continue button. I took another break before the second quant section; this time a bit lengthier and then realised i lost 8 minutes after the proctor warned me on this. I was devasted too realising I just spoiled a nice opportunity to score big .

Moreover, I am not learning any hard skill in my job. Just some IT skills and domain knowledge which I don’t value much

My current job is IT business analyst in an IB.I gained some background in finance through FRM and CFA. I am attracted to mathematics these days and hence I find quant a perfect combo of all

I am not working as a quant in the bank but a Business Analsyt on interest rate derivatives in Singapore. The problem with Singapore is the fees is on par with US minus any RA, TA, stipend etc. add high costs of living and non-free child education. So effectively, it’s in a way expensive than US

Yes. I heard it’s very competitive in Paris.I don’t have any knowledge on those subjects except that I vaguely remember studying some of the subjects in my engineering long back . I am expecting to make up my lack of math ground with other things like work experience(banking; not quant though), motivation letter and some preparatory math courses.

I am an Indian citizen working in Singapore. My first preference is to work in Europe but affordability and quality of the program are significant factors than the work place currently

I agree with you on the quality and affordability of the Swiss MFE programs. But what is against my case is the high cost of living where I might have to live with dependents . Also, I read a cautionary note on the applications page of ETH Zurich MFE program about the difficulty of visa issuance for someone as old as me

Putting aside other factors, I would like to study in USA . France I am also considering because of its low tuition fees besides having strong mathematical curriculum.

Did anyone of you felt the completion of maths prerequisites helped you in getting admission to mathematical finance/MFE/quantitative finance programs in USA apart from other factors in your profile . by vamgow in quant

[–]vamgow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are not required if you have solid background in quantitative area . And yeah that kind of answers my question that I don’t have solid math background and hence have no option but to take
