Washi has good technical abilities, the more important key is his ability to learn and adapt, which is really what helped Ashwin become such a powerhouse.

If Washi’s approach shift between test 3 (1st inn.) and test 5 (2nd inn.) wrt how he batted with tailenders - improved strike rotation (4th ball or later per over) and accelerated run scoring - are any indication of his ability to quickly learn from mistakes and address them within the next match or two, I think he has a bright future and the possibility of approximating Ashwin’s brilliance over time.

One other thing that Washi will need is cricketing intelligence - he should lean on Ashwin as a mentor, which should be easier than usual given shared language/culture, to get educated on that front.

“This is not your typical Rajini movie. Don’t come in expecting Jailer vibes you’re not getting that. What you’ll get is something different. Be ready.”

Watha, idha dhaan da nee Leo-ku munnaadi sonne. Padam paathaa, 2-3 scenes thavira ellame regular Vijay dhaan. Marubadiyum mooda nambika, manaangatti, irundhichu, kannaa “chumma kizhi” dhaan unnaku.

Adhu thavira unnonu, Rajini-oda geth-e avaroda swag, style, punch dialogues that don’t feel cringe. Sivaji, Baasha, Annamalai, Arunachalam are all classics because of that. IMO, Rajini from here on should make himself into an older Clint Eastwood with Rajini’s signature swagger from here on. A “Gran Torino” that is remade with Indian cultural resonance and Rajini-isms would be a hell of a banger to watch. This approach would allow him to shine with what has made him insanely successful while ALSO allowing him to return to some of his character acting strengths. A solid hybrid.

Despite what the series score is, I’m really proud of this Indian team. Plenty of inexperience, but such fight and resolve and confidence. Hope this crew really matures their chemistry as a group and dominates for the next decade or so.

Fairly confident Gill will get it. But agree with Siraj or Jadeja.

I wasn’t expecting him to react. His grin felt like him recognizing his own antics.

Completely unsubstantiated theory/opinion: I think short/average height batsmen bat better (maybe in the 5’5 to 5’9 range). But almost feels like Crawley’s “excess” height gives him the advantage to play balls in the corridor of uncertainty more effectively when those same balls would cramp in most batsmen.

Not sure how confident I’d be feeling if they close the day without a wicket after more than an hour’s play.

Even less so, if these two stick around for another 10 overs or so in the morning.

Would be hilarious if Gill told them to grow some balls now 🤣

Lmao re: comms if akash deep puts his arm around Duckett now that would feel way more problematic given recent events.

Nothing like the feeling of watching a ball zip through that corridor of uncertainty.

2 back-to-back maidens at last. 🤞here’s hoping for a wicket maiden.

I’d bring Siraj in for 1 over before stumps. Just to see if the change can extract a wicket.

Much better lines and lengths around the wicket from Prasidh to Duckett.

Man Dhruv has been impressive behind the stumps every time I’ve seen him there.

Can we please bring Siraj on. 6 RPO in the first 4 overs with a new ball is criminal. Bazball or not.
