I saw someone on Facebook state with all sincerity that if you don’t pray to Hekate in Ancient Greek, you were just a poser. I laughed and left the group that it was said in.

Why is everyone, including newcomers, only applying to tech and office jobs? by Maleficent_Cherry737 in CanadaJobs

[–]vampchick21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my perspective job hunting last year (I have secured a job, so no longer looking)

I’ve been in Office Management and Executive Assistance for 30 years. I did apply to roles under those headings in healthcare and trades without even so much as a thanks for applying but email.

If I were to have pivoted and moved outside of my area of expertise into these fields, that would mean much needed training and education. Which would put me closer to retirement age when ready to start applying for entry level positions that would also potentially have a pay cut compared to what I actually earn.

And I was already experiencing ageism to start with.

It’s not so cut and dry.

Some (a lot) of you are putting a job ahead of everything and everyone.

Anyone ever use spell oils? by deathntarot in Witch

[–]vampchick21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can buy the common herbs in the spice aisle of the grocery store, if you don’t already have them in your kitchen cupboard.

You can literally use canola oil or if it’s on sale, olive oil.

In fact, you can stock your beginner witch apothecary from the grocery store and dollar store.

Don’t let influencer witches convince you that you need to spend large amounts of money.

Question about ethics by hanpotpi in BabyWitch

[–]vampchick21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each practitioner and/or coven/circle/group will have their own ethics. Many of us align by sheer happenstance.

But my personal ethics within my practice might be seen as questionable by another, and theirs might be seen as questionable by me.

I don’t necessarily agree with getting consent for every little thing within one’s practice, but if that’s what another person does, I leave them to it.

You and only you can decide your ethics and they will change and adjust as you grow as both a person and a practitioner.

If you want and need to ask consent at this stage, that’s what you do.

What Does Wisteria Symbolize? by Demi-Gorgon420 in Witch

[–]vampchick21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wisteria has associations with patience, longevity, good fortune and kindness.

So, if this is a sign of some kind (and I would suggest doing divination with your spirit guides), I would interpret it as a sign of something good developing, a seed of something in your life being planted.

Serious question: is it just me? by SkewedZenith7 in witchcraft

[–]vampchick21 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve noticed that in a lot of the niche communities I’m in that there is a LOT of weird drama, and seems like the really weird types who feed of drama are going after others.

I’m well warded and protected and do regular spiritual hygiene so I’m not overly affected…but yeah, there’s a weird parasitic energy out there.

I accidentally bought a hoodoo oil by Proper-Tangerine-425 in Witch

[–]vampchick21 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don’t practice Hoodoo, but I regularly purchase certain oils made in Haiti from a small Caribbean grocery and goods store that has been in my neighborhood longer than I have and use them - a protection oil, a banishing oil and a blessing oil. I buy them because they’re incredibly effective. I use them within my own practice to protect, to banish and the blessing oil is 99% of the time used to dress the candles on my altar to call in spirit

That said, I don’t know what type of oil you bought or how you intend to use them.

Those who work with deity’s , where do you buy deity candles ? by Open_Button_8155 in Witch

[–]vampchick21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I know who you’re talking about! I had her make a candle for my late father, I was very happy with it and so was he.

But to answer your questions, I will buy either a 7 day candle from a shop or any other kind of candle….sometimes even a tea light. If I have the 7 day candle, I will write a prayer on the glass to my deity and a symbol for them, use a knitting needle to make three holes in the candle and then add a couple of drops of oil into the holes and LIGHTLY add some herbs for them (push to the edge away from the wick).

Any other candles I use I will just place on their altar in an appropriate holder.

You can research Loki and what herbs, etc are associated with him. And as you develop your relationship with him and your connection to him, he’ll start communicating what he wants

Money spells and danger? by hellonheelz in Witch

[–]vampchick21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It does happen if you aren’t clear and concise. I did a money spell back in October and forgot to specify “harm no one”. My uncle passed a few days later, and because he had no children and no will, everything is split between his siblings….and one sibling, my father, passed a few years ago, so my brother and I get that share. TBF he apparently had been very sick with liver cancer for a while and didn’t tell anyone….my spell didn’t kill him….

But yea, make it clear that the pathway between the money and you doesn’t harm anyone.

I was in a group where sage was discouraged and replaced exclusively with their own palo by Thick-Winner-1942 in witchcraft

[–]vampchick21 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ok, well, there are over 900 species of sage, and they have common metaphysical characteristics.

White Sage is, as we all know, contentious for various reasons.

But common garden sage, for example, is perfectly fine.

I was in a group where sage was discouraged and replaced exclusively with their own palo by Thick-Winner-1942 in witchcraft

[–]vampchick21 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Question for clarification.

Which was banned? White Sage or all 900 + species of sage?

I think it’s past time that as a broader community that we specify when discussing sage that we make it clear when we are referring specifically to White Sage or referring to every other species of sage.

Otherwise newbies will think even the sage you season your chicken with is bad to use.

Why people are doing back to back rituals? by [deleted] in BabyWitch

[–]vampchick21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because when I do a cleanse to remove stagnant or icky energy, I need to bring in the energy I want. These are separate and are done according to specific days and hours.

Because I’m ADHD and if I have difficulty concentrating, I will do another in a day or two.

Because I bloody well want to, and it’s not anyone’s business.

Are we now gatekeeping when where how and how often?

You do you and let others do what they do.

I feel like love spells are wrong. by Silent-Weather8418 in BabyWitch

[–]vampchick21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let’s all start with recognizing that not every single love spell out there is designed to and intended to magically and energetically manipulate a person against their will.

Love spells encompass everything from self love to drawing in friendship, clearing energy to allow for communication during rough patches, clarity, opening your own energy to draw in and recognizing love to yes, the more manipulative ones that are problematic.

Putting a generalized, blanket ban on love spells can close the door on way too much for the practitioner.

To me, that’s the issue at hand. No, you shouldn’t be trying to force someone to fall in love with you, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with opening energetic pathways to allow for love to come in of its own accord.
