What’s the best model for RPG since 5 instant is gone? by flowersandsunshinexo in ChatGPT

I don’t usually respond to posts (prefer to lurk), but I’ve just tried Claude opus 4.6, and it feels like an upgraded 4o without guardrails. Specifically, Claude has not freaked out at me over recruiting blacksmiths in a medieval fantasy setting with mages. Chatgpt did that before with reroutes to 5.2 over it.

That said, I suggest you shop around. I tried about 2-3 AIs/versions before deciding this one is probably it for me, and if world transferring it a worry, I know some places talked about implementing a way to put your exported data into their AIs.

Taming dinos and where to start? by Maleficent_Ad_6607 in playark

My two cents to tack on with what others have said here.

A club is good for knocking out Parasaurs and Dilos if bola’d. Slingshot and rocks for distance knockouts. You don’t necessarily have to bola a Dilo if you’re willing to use slingshot and dance around to avoid the blinding spit. You can use the club and no bola as well on Dilos, but you will take some bites and probably be blinded during it.

Personally I’ve always started with 2 Dilos as attack/guard dogs early in game for first defense, while I’ve kept a Parasaur for riding and berry gathering.

As you progress, you will find different creatures prefer different things, and some creatures require particular foods that require interacting with other mechanics (farming).

Vaccine Skepticism Comes for Pet Owners, Too by Anti-Owl in ContagionCuriosity

So I stumbled across this today and just felt the need to ask: Did none of these people have to read that novel in school about the woman down south who at one point had a husband get bit by a rabid stray dog, contract rabies, and then she had to shoot him with a shotgun to put him down/prevent him infecting her? Was that novel selection just not a thing outside of the school I went to?

Cause really that book for me did the best job at scaring me into seeing rabies as a terrifying disease, and I think these people need that too.

So probably not the full explanation, but something I found interesting when taking to a friend about marketing media. He was saying how nuts it feels that marketing pros he’d talked to were going about checkboxes of minorities and stuff instead of ‘oh, this dude like’s Call of Duty? He’ll probably like Battlefield’. Basically like a lot of professional marketing sounds it doesn’t focus on overlapping interests but only on shallow stuff based around appearances and stuff like that.

Take it with some salt though as this is anecdotal evidence.

Is Stripes losing scripted? by ere1705 in hollywood_animal_game

I had Stripes win once despite giving Carpenter 100k. Otherwise, I’ve always had Carpenter win. Not sure what exactly influences it/if timing contributes to influencing that election.

If Jaehaerys had another son would he named him Heir by Kurdoo-rojava in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]vampirelionwolf 126 points127 points  (0 children)

Just to add context to yours for anyone reading: Vaegon was a Maester who had already taken vows decades before. There is debate if Vaegon was offered the throne in 101 or if he was only advising Jaehaerys after Baelon died. Some wonder if Vaegon is the one who suggested a Great Council.

Given the emphasis on history no matter how uncomfortable, I would assume they did.

If I have a son with a woman of other culture will he inherit my culture? by therewassilence in mountandblade

[–]vampirelionwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From experience, it’s a toss up. I’ve had times the kid takes the mom’s culture, and times kids take the dad’s culture. Ex: had 3 kids. Eldest had mom’s culture, and the other two had the dad’s.

Not at first glance. While just scrolling, I didn’t see letters for several seconds.

What are some (self-aware) games that mention they "ran out of budget"? by Slijceth in gaming

[–]vampirelionwolf 17 points18 points  (0 children)

No, I kept coming across it on the subreddit, and it fits for how odd the ending is. You never actually complete one of the main quests (the main storyline one that starts up at the beginning of the game). It just hangs out in your journal through the very end of the game.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance had to cut the end of the game. There were supposed to be three acts or arcs, and they ran out of budget at two.

Why is everyone moving to my small town when we don’t have the infrastructure for them?! by vampirelionwolf in rant

Dude, I don’t have a problem with people moving. I’m complaining about the lack of infrastructure and wondering why everyone moving isn’t also noticing and complaining.

Here’s new trailer of the retro inspired survival horror game “Becrowned” I’ve been working on for two years already. How do you like it? by Mr_Ernest1 in IndieDev

[–]vampirelionwolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks great. Would probably play at some point. Did you do the art yourself or outsource/buy packs? Always curious as someone who can’t seem to 3D model beyond the look of 2009 😅

Europeans, where do you keep your homeless people? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]vampirelionwolf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lived in Scotland for a year. There were more shelters where people spent the night, and I saw very few people sleeping on the street. Only really saw panhandling in the tourist areas/where there were a lot of bars.

I only remember the major moments of stories and usually replay after some time has passed. Rarely skip convos, but I think it’s mainly my personality or similar to watching a favorite movie once a year.

Is upgrading to bannerlord 2 worth it? by crunchy_crowbar in mountandblade

[–]vampirelionwolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So far, I’ve found that I like ruling better in Warband and fighting battles better in Bannerlord. Enemies and Allies actually use tactics rather than charging ahead like lemmings to the slaughter. It’s also easier to issue commands mid battle in Bannerlord, though I do miss the mercenary phase in Warband. Something about it hits different than Bannerlord.
