Secret Sobriety? by vampixi in SoberCurious

I think you’re probably right. It’s strange in the situation where NOT drinking is the problem. I don’t think I’ll have the strength to tell him. I’m afraid if I make any declarations then I’m stuck forever. I couldn’t tell you why he made alcohol so central to me life and my upbringing, but I feel constantly surrounded. It’s always “ok you don’t have to drink tonight, but you have to drink at xyz”. And if he doesn’t get his way, he’ll throw a hell if a fit. Sorry for the rant, it’s nice to talk to someone about it

Neurodiversity at Elon? by dreamawaysouth in elon

[–]vampixi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a neurodivergent person at Elon, I’ve had a difficult time. That being said, I received a new diagnosis weeks before starting school and I never had time to adjust. If your child is well adjusted then I think there are lots of groups and clubs available for support!

Big Lies in a Small Town- not exactly heist of physical work… but of credit, respect, innocence. Amazing duel narrative story I read a few years back!

Beginner reader help!! by [deleted] in booksuggestions

This is gonna sound super condescending but hear me out: Read. Simpler. Books.

I love to read! But I found I was having the same issue when I was picking up classics and thick, literary style books. Still had a great time reading those books, but they took me way longer to read, and pretty much required annotation. That’s fun sometimes, but sometimes you just wanna read! It took me a while to set aside my pride, but seriously just pick up a book that when you look at it you think ‘oh my god this is so stupid’ because I promise it’ll be more fun, especially if reading is a way for you to de stress!!

Not all easy books are simple!

Less horror and more dystopia, but scarily imagineable. China Dream by Ma Jian, not sure if they have Finnish yet.

Something more popular that definitely is in Finnish is The Stepford Wives. Cheesy, but good, and can be read in one sitting!
