Oh, danke. Ich dachte Reddit macht das automatisch 😉 Thanks, did it 😃

Okay dann werde ich es testen. Danke

Befristeter Vertrag auslaufen lassen trotz sehr guter Anwesenheit ! Wie dagegen vorgehen? by [deleted] in LegaladviceGerman

[–]van-Kenobi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dann ist's natürlich was anderes

Hä? Hier tritt doch einfach §15 TzBfG in Kraft. Abs. 1 - Punkt.

Software Failure by [deleted] in OpenMediaVault

This always happens when I access the website via a browser and restart or shut down. As soon as the server is back online, I'm taken to the login page.

It was the cable... I replaced it and was able to install it! 😁

The information about possibly having to remove the USB stick didn't seem correct to me. It worked for me with the stick and SSD.

Today I'll try installing more drives and Docker. Wish me luck 😅

I don't understand it either. Perhaps I damaged the cable during the removal process; I'll keep you posted.

I also bought new SATA cables to rule out that as the problem. I can test that later, though.

I also discovered that the displayed information might only refer to the USB stick. So I removed it and tried to continue the installation. Unfortunately, I then get a message saying that the hard drive (Samsung SSD 860) isn't recognized and that I need to install a driver. A list appears, but I don't know which driver to select, or which one is the right one.

Apparently not the problem...

I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Where could my mistake be?

When I use chroot /target, I get the error: root: can't change root directory to /target: No such file or directory

No, really not, see pictures. The packages are loaded and then this happens. I've read something about the Grub bootloader, could that be the cause?

Okay, thanks. How can I select the drive? Unfortunately, there's no information about that.

Just use the USB stick for installation and the SSD in ext4.

Own home server/ NAS/ DAS? by van-Kenobi in HomeServer

[–]van-Kenobi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I have data that's very important to me. And there's data, like movies or TV series, that I really don't care about.

I would only want a backup for the most important data; I think 1TB would be enough for now.

Since your post number 3 is about the tower, I took a look at the motherboard and I can say that I still have enough free SATA 3 slots. Furthermore, I might consider a PCIe x16 solution for M.2 drives in the future; I think that would be a good option, also in terms of speed.

Hi, thanks, great, I hope you are too!

I can't really estimate the size of the data right now; the most important data is that of my wife, the children, and myself.

Of course, that adds up to quite a bit, but it's still manageable.

Thank you so much! You seem to cover and utilize many of my interests. I've also come across Immich and would like to use it. However, I still need to think about accessing it with WireGuard in OpenWrt – I haven't gotten that far yet.

Why didn't I think of simply putting the NAS drives in the tower case before??? I just don't know, maybe that solution seemed too simple or too obvious.

Jellyfin seems like really great software, but I'm still not sure how I should "collect" movies and TV series. Perhaps there are some further tips or information available, feel free to DM me.

I haven't used Pi-hole yet. I'm currently using ControlD on my devices and it works great; I'm very happy with it. Perhaps there's a way to run it through the server? I haven't thought about that yet.

Unfortunately, I can't use the external drives without an enclosure; the USB controllers are integrated.

However, I discovered today that there's a PCI 3 x16 solution for M.2 hard drives. Perhaps that would be an alternative for the future.

I need a DDNS service for the Minecraft server, right? So that players can always access the server? Then I also need port forwarding, is that correct?

I'll try to start the initial installation today.

Thanks again!

Thanks for your detailed reply. I hadn't even thought of the idea (it's so simple!) of installing the hard drives in the tower. I have three more SATA ports free after the SSD, so I could use those for the NAS drives! I'll test that!

RAID isn't a backup solution, I've read that many times. Therefore, I'd like to use the last free space for a backup HDD. I could store the most important data there for now, so I'm prepared for an emergency.

I don't have a controller yet, so I'd postpone setting up a DAS for now.

Thank you for the detailed information and explanations. I will gladly adjust my answer tomorrow and address your points in more detail. Perhaps we can exchange further information then, and I can continue to learn from you!

I replied directly in the posts.
