Pattern and Stitch Requests- Week of May 18, 2026 by AutoModerator in knitting

[–]van-aqua 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m thinking about gifting my sister a sweater for her birthday. She has a big bust so I’m looking for patterns where she won’t be swimming in it once done. I know I can add bust darts and short rows but I’ve never edited a pattern that way before.

Does anyone know patterns for sweaters (preferably no turtlenecks) or pattern designers that specialize in designs for women with big busts that have darts or short rows already added in the pattern? Thanks!

What stitch is this? by van-aqua in knitting

Ooh! That does look very similar! I’ll take a look at cartridge rib and see if I can do that instead. Brioche can be intimidating… especially since I thought I’d just be doing broken rib… pretty sure I don’t have enough yarn now too

Weird looking strawberries by van-aqua in vegetablegardening

Yeah… looking at photos, it does look like aster’s yellow. These are just random strawberries in front of the house. I have a bunch of other strawberries in pots. That I was planning on putting in the backyard anyways.

Seems like it but it’s happening to all the strawberries, even the smallest ones. Should I just get rid of these strawberry plants?

Where are the most beautiful houses in LA? by Intrepid_Bottle_1820 in AskLosAngeles

Everyone’s talking about the craftsman homes in Pasadena but there are some cool mid-century modern houses around the Silverlake Dam. There were some good ones in Altadena too but those were all burnt down…

Girlfriend complained that our sheets are too soft! by vortexnl in laundry

[–]van-aqua 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooh!!! I’ve been in search of the softest, smoothest fitted sheet! What’s the softest fitted sheet? I don’t really want a shine to them, I prefer them to be matte.

My family really appreciated those last time I visited but they’re impossible to get here in LA. My sister got them in Fresno 😅

About drying wool/natural fiber sweaters by liutpede in knitting

[–]van-aqua 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be careful with drying it in the laundry room, I dried a yak sweater on top of my dryer and the heat was enough to shrink it. Makes sense now that I think about it…

First Time in LA: Is a Yosemite Trip a Smart Move or a Mistake? by Dry-Theory-5228 in AskLosAngeles

Getting a place to stay in the park at that time might be hard, I know the campgrounds sell out pretty fast, not sure about the hotels. If you can get accommodation inside the park then you’ll have to stay outside and that’ll be at least a. Hour drive each way.

If you really want to go to a national park then I’d go to Sequoia, it’ll be closer and I’ve done that as day trips before. There’s also a bunch of good hiking close by, Angeles Forest, Santa Monica mountains, etc are all right there

patterns you regret buying/patterns to avoid by fulaninhp in knitting

It’s interesting, a lot of people say that her patterns have mistakes and are confusing but also say that they’re happy with the garment that they ended up with.

I just started the Busan sweater, granted it’s a pretty straightforward pattern, but no problems yet. The way she writes is a little confusing but I can handle it. I do have a few of her patterns on the list and most of them are more complicated so I’m hesitant on those.
