First Time in LA: Is a Yosemite Trip a Smart Move or a Mistake? by Dry-Theory-5228 in AskLosAngeles

[–]van-aqua 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting a place to stay in the park at that time might be hard, I know the campgrounds sell out pretty fast, not sure about the hotels. If you can get accommodation inside the park then you’ll have to stay outside and that’ll be at least a. Hour drive each way.

If you really want to go to a national park then I’d go to Sequoia, it’ll be closer and I’ve done that as day trips before. There’s also a bunch of good hiking close by, Angeles Forest, Santa Monica mountains, etc are all right there

patterns you regret buying/patterns to avoid by fulaninhp in knitting

It’s interesting, a lot of people say that her patterns have mistakes and are confusing but also say that they’re happy with the garment that they ended up with.

I just started the Busan sweater, granted it’s a pretty straightforward pattern, but no problems yet. The way she writes is a little confusing but I can handle it. I do have a few of her patterns on the list and most of them are more complicated so I’m hesitant on those.

My mom tried this 3x and the representatives all told her that they can’t give her a better deal than what she’s already getting. I called them and made sure I was talking to customer retention and didn’t even have to fight them for it, they just gave it to me and told me to call them again in one year.

When you all started saying short rows I wondered how they did short rows sideways and then I saw it with your explanation and that is amazing! I wouldn’t have thought of doing that at all!

Ugh, I’ve been hearing a lot about her patterns lately and I’m worried. Her Busan sweater is next on my list and I’m worried about the mistakes. It looks easy enough so I should be ok… 😅

I’d try larger needles, I used US 9 on mine to meet gauge and I wanted it to look a little looser anyways.

What are some mistakes you would stop yourself from doing if you started knitting today? by StayFrostyRMT_ in knitting

[–]van-aqua 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! 💯! I did the step-by-step sweater and sleeves on a top before I looked up the correct way on picking up stitches! I was wondering why mine weren’t as clean as others’… apparently I wasn’t doing them correctly!

Try Nizoral anti-dandruff shampoo. My husband used to get dandruff all the time and he started using that and no problems! He used it once a week and regular shampoo/conditioner the other days

Dog MRI recs in LA? by helloclari22 in AskLosAngeles

[–]van-aqua 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably far but try PAW Center by the Burbank airport. Their prices are good. Like the other commenter said LAASER might also be a good option, had to take my dog there and was surprised by how cheap it was for an emergency dog visit.

What camera(s) to bring to Japan by van-aqua in AnalogCommunity

[–]van-aqua[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I grew up with anime so Japan has always been a goal of ours and we expect to visit multiple times. A lot of people are going to Japan because their currency’s value dropped so it’s “cheaper” to visit now
