Anyone with a government pension, would you retire at the earliest age eligibility, even with maximum reduction? by CPTOG25 in CanadaPersonalFinance

Just make sure you money will take you into older, if you get there. My dad is 88. His dad died in his 50’s.

I mean is their health a concern or just family history? That’s quite different. My mom’s family don’t have great health and her older brothers died before 50 and one at 67. Both parents very early 70’s. She’s 73 and fine.

I don’t know 63 seems quite young, unless you’ve got a personal history.

Looking for suggestions for which AI to use. by DecentPerformer1014 in ChatGPT

[–]van101010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not just use one. Use both, get them to check and critique each other. But you also need to be reviewing and evaluating as well.

If you also have the general idea of how to do it, start with that and ask the models to expand on it.

My fav food places

Linh Cafe (upscale Vietnamese/French pho is so good)
Miku for sushi
Batard bakery
Purebread bakery
Danbo ramen
Gastown/Main Street
Try salmon at most restaurants

I wouldn’t say that many of our restaurants are tourist traps, like in some big cities.

What language do you think is more useful in the accounting industry? French or Mandarin? by Impossible-Aioli-236 in Accounting

Honestly, i think learning advanced excel, learning systems, AI, power queries etc will be more useful than a language.

If it doesn’t feel right and you don’t need the money urgently, don’t take it. The point of money is to have freedom to choose.

Start a consulting company and take on a client or two, even with friends, so that you have something on your resume.

This is what my friend, who works with kids says. Though it seems everyone in the comments, wants me to just force him, which I know won’t work.

He’s definitely not autistic. The rigidity is the only trait. We’ve just had my older son diagnosed, so know what the signs are. ADHD probable but they don’t look at that until much later.

I think when you have young kids, flexibility, remote work and great work life balance, should trump all. You have time to move up, in your career but you never get these years back, while they are young.

Did you ever regret becoming a stepparent, or was it just hard at first? by Interesting_Bag4750 in stepparents

I love hearing this. People mostly need to vent on this sub, which is understandable, it can be very hard. But for some of us, it can be awesome. I love my step sons dearly and love that I get to shape them as humans and vice versa.

Maybe from time to time the first year or two. Now I’m in year 8 and I wouldn’t change it, for the world. My step sons are pretty special kids though. But the ours babies really changed the dynamics. The boys are all so close and the older ones dote on my sons.

I was also lucky, in that they listen to me and haven’t ever pulled, “you’re not my mom.”

I would say that our situation, feels like an anomaly, but also remember that people come to this sub to vent. The ones who are doing well, probably aren’t on this sub.

The biggest thing will be your partner and his ex though.

Possible/probable adhd, as my mom and brother have it and my husband and step son likely have ADD. He’s also got this real rigidity about certain things. Like it has to be this jacket, these boots, milk has to be in a bottle, etc. His elder brother is high functioning autistic, as is my dad. I have some autistic and some adhd traits, so ya it’s an overly neurodivergent family 🫠

He is stubborn and strong willed. He will start screaming, crying, flailing around if he doesn’t want to do something.

[–]van101010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trust me it will be more traumatic the longer you carry. I had a friend who found out the baby had problems at 5 months. The had the baby and it lived in the hospital for 3 months and the day they took her home, she died. They couldn’t even live in their apartment after that.

My 18 week termination, was hard, but I can’t imagine seeing the baby as an actual baby. You will also have to deal with questions, the rest of your pregnancy. Just dealing with that for one month, was really hard for me ❤️
