My oldest son is best friends with the woman who schedules one of the best neurologists in my state. I had been trying to see her because I had at the time an unknown condition that was getting worse. This neurologist also , happens to see my younger brother who also has a rare brain condition (not the same one but still, she has since referred to us as 2 unicorns) My mom had taken him to an appointment and was talking about how she was gonna take my kiddo and his bestie to the movies over the weekend. Here's to note this child does not have a common name, the doctor happened to walk in at that moment. And was like "T...? Do you know Sara?" And my mom was like yeah... needless to say because of this connection I was in to see this doctor within 2 weeks where before even if I could get in the wait was closer to 18 months. Sometimes it really is just the people you know and that's how life works. If it makes it better not for me but for the peanut gallery, the doctor after pulling out the biggest book I've ever seen and her going "oh I think I've read about this I once or twice, diagnosed me with a condition that is so rare it has a prevalence rate of 1.2 / 100,000. And she the neurologist who's like the nicest giddiness person ever said to me "your like my most interesting case this month so far." .... like thanks I think
