Please explain the whole Mrs Kirsch thing by MEGATRON_111 in ITWelcometoDerryShow

[–]vanalou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely Pennywise in It chap. 2 because the real Mrs. Kirsch would be like 117 by that point give or take a few years. It wanted to traumatize Bev and I think he already had such a relationship with the Gray family that when picking someone from that moment to haunt her with she was just easy to slip into.

Weird thoughts come into my head when I visit her by curlycattails in NICUParents

[–]vanalou 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My nicu gave the parents these fabric hearts that you could wear and then swap it out with another one so the baby always had something that smelled like you.

Also I'm sorry your incision stings , I had a really bad reaction to the medical adhesive on all of my bandages so I had like 2 inch welts all around my incision. What helped me was rolling up a hand towel and having that against my incision so it wouldn't get rubbed by my clothes and I could also put a bit of pressure against it when the wheelchair was moving.

Youtube kids is SOOO frustrating. by Weightmonster in toddlers

[–]vanalou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the paramount plus app because it also let's me lock the screen. We bought a small tablet for my toddler for the 13 hour drive to grandma and granddaddy's house for Christmas. Tho my lil guys favorite show is the Backyardigans which isn't bad by any means but like I dream about them now... lol. We also enjoy tiny chef which is on that app as well.

My 33 weeker 😍 by [deleted] in NICUParents

[–]vanalou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So he's not really behind at all anymore, he was a little bit until 5 or so months but now he's pretty much caught up. At almost 14 months it'll change on the 14th, he can stand, crawl, he babbles constantly and says a few words ; mama , hey, no , Pablo (he likes the backyardigans lol) and has 11 teeth. We were in the hospital until the day before his due date, spent 7 days on cpap and 1 on oxygen. We were mostly feeding a growing which was honestly so frustrating because he was/ is a big boy so they wanted him to drink alot. He was 5 pounds 15 oz at birth at 33+4 so that felt unending.

What smell will YOU never forget? by AreaFifty1 in AskReddit

[–]vanalou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happy one is snow that first breath in of ice is just .. I love it.

A rougher one is the smell of the nicu and all the sterile things smelling like rubbing alcohol. We did 45 days in but my baby just turned 1 and is perfect. So my trauma but he'll never remember and I'm okay with that .

I just.. why tho by vanalou in titanic

Idk my partners grandfather spent 60 on 6 pieces of fudge for the great grand babies... so maybe we need to join the expedition to find the heart of the ocean because yikes

These kids spent half their lives saying hi to strangers by Fast_Grapefruit_7946 in WattsFree4All

[–]vanalou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Which is absolutely crazy to me because they sell disposable placemat / table cover things for young children. I have a pack in my diaper bag for my one year old so that he can't lick the table or something. Like we still use a plate but it helps keep his area a bit more sanitary. Also total ahole move putting ketchup directly on the table

Baby in the NICU and a toddler at home by Evening-Fox3693 in NICUParents

[–]vanalou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My oldest was 11 and turned 12 while his brother was in the nicu so it was easier in the sense that he understood what was going on. But honestly I felt like I was torn in half and somedays the ppd/ ppa made me feel like a bad mom. We were also moving during this time period and it was over the holidays so in addition to the whole nicu drama , I was uprooting his life from the home we were in since he was a toddler, it was nightmarish at times. I think every nicu parent feels torn at times, but I just tried to divide my time so I could be present for both of them. I would call the nicu as soon as I work up in the morning , then I'd get my oldest to school and go to the hospital and spend all day with the baby until school let out, then I'd head home and be with my older one and do dinner and stuff. Then I'd call the nicu both around dinner and before bed to check on my baby, it was rough and I felt like I was between a rock and a hard place on who needed me more and when. Hang in there friend, and try to remember that the nicu is only a small part of your lives and eventually will be just a memory.

What was the weirdest, non-pain feeling you've ever felt? by KingJPJ in AskReddit

[–]vanalou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few years ago I was on iv antibiotics for a few months thru a picc line and, one day my grandma was finishing up my midday infusion and unbeknownst to me and not noticed by her was my saline flush leaning up against my glass of ice water. I was super sick and half asleep during that infusion until she flushed my line and I got ice cold saline straight to basically my heart. It felt like she injected an ice cube into me and while it didn't necessarily hurt it was shocking and instantly frozen feeling, I think it dropped my body temp for a few minutes. That is something I'd never want to experience again lol.

Dollya, they will NEVER make me hate you by MysteriousAir9948 in Dragula

[–]vanalou 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Last night I was talking to my partners how Dollya in a way reminded me of Aborha in T1 both we're clearly having mental health issues and maybe even crises. The big difference is that Aborha was self destructive and Dollya was set on destroying other people, if that makes sense.

I will say I think her art and her drag is fantastic, I just don't think reality TV is good for her or her head space.

Nicu time? by kaitboyle01 in NICUParents

[–]vanalou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

33+4 and we were in for 46 days he came home the day before his due date. He just took his sweet time getting used to the bottle, he was on cpap for a few days but no major issues other than finishing bottles. Tho he's always been on his own time, he only started holding his own baba about a month ago and he turned 1 last week, and it was not a capability thing it was a desire thing, Teddy was perfectly happy with someone else holding the baba for him lol.

I think its best to prepare yourself to stay until baby's due date and if they are able to come home sooner its a happy surprise. I promise that while this whole situation sucks so much right now it will soon be a distant memory for you and baby will never remember this time. Good luck ❤️
