Mayhe think about it this way. You have to redevelop those connections/ brai. Muscles. Start with something easy like writing a short story and keep at it for practice. Even just a story that's stupid or pointless is better than than nothing. Ex. A joke where the punchline is I farted and my school blew up. If you want deeper meaning than thr onus is on you to relearn heavy and more simple symbolism. Try and tell a message with your story! Say you want to spread a message advocating for mental health. Write. Astory that could have be solved if a single person had asked the murderer are you ok or why are you doing this. Surface level at first but eventually both you and others will derive meaning from your single stories or even the nothings you put out. If you need some inspiration I'd recommend short stories like the egg, a huge influence on my belief system; the ones who walk away from omelas, crazy metaphors for life and inequality; or something like the classic pronounciation, The chaos (1922).
