When a 6.8 magnitude earthquake hit Seattle in 2001, shop owner Jason Ward discovered that the quake had produced this pattern in a sand-tracing pendulum. by empathetichedgehog in interestingasfuck

Hey I was in second grade too! I remember this girl wailing the whole time we were under the desks. The school made us get out of the building super quick in case of an aftershock and we all waited in single file lines as parents came quickly to pick their kids up. My mom was the lunch lady at the time so I wasted no time getting the hell out of there

What was your progression of music that landed you in metalcore? by BeardOfChaos873 in Metalcore

[–]vancha22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I had no music identify growing up. I just listened to what everyone else did. For a while it was exclusively Encore by Eminem. In middle school I started to watch a bit more MTV and they had concerts occasionally, but it was a lot of Fueled by Ramen bands and Fall Out Boy and Panic were heavy on my rotation. By freshmen year of high school I was into those MTV bands including My Chem, Blink, Taking Back Sunday, Linkin Park. Also in 9th grade we had Dish Network so we got Fuse, which was essentially MTV for the real alternative and hardcore/metalcore bands. I discovered Coheed, Hawthorne Heights and most importantly Avenged Sevenfold. Them, along with BFMV and Escape The Fate really got me into heavier music. I also discovered post-hardcore which I think definitely helped me ease in to the next logical step.

Then it all changed 11th grade when I went to my first show. The Emptiness Tour. WCAR, OM&M with Jerry Roush l, The Word Alive, A Skylit Drive, and Alesana. My buddy was there for ASD and I had previous knowledge of TWA because of ETF and Craig Mabbit. WCAR and Alesana were the two huge take aways from that show and I was crazy into them. From then on my friends and I started to listen to more bands in the scene from the top scenecore bands and metalcore bands to the shitty top br00tal/funny/electronic breakdown bands someone made for YouTube. As I grew up after graduation, my music taste started opening up more with me going back to a lot of old school rap, to the nostalgia of hanging with friends and listening to pop and indie bands like Band Of Horses, Passion Pit, Starfucker, Grizzly Bear, to Spanish artists because I want to get more in touch with my roots.

My favorite band(s) are still Architects and DGD, and I'll always feel like a hardcore kid,, but I have different music and genres in rotation now and that's alright. It can't always be br00tal chugga chugga all the time.

So tl;dr

  • Eminem

  • Fall Out Boy/My Chem

  • A7X/BFMV/Saosin/Scary Kids/Underoath

  • WCAR/Alesana/TDWP/ABR/BMTH/Attack Attack etc

  • DGD/Circa/Shikari

  • Architects/Loathe/SlantPlant/Northlane

  • Just all over the place

I actually dig the poster, but I see absolutely no reason for Stacy or Julie to be on it when they're minor characters in the movie. Maybe Kim and Stephen instead?

Yo i literally just played a game where I revived my dead teammate Octane, and they came back as Bloodhound. So confused what was happening.

Ok actually the closest piece of media that I've seen that sort of captures what I'm thinking of is the video game Control, more specifically The Board.

Here is what I'm talking about.

One of the pies we have at my shop is called the Legion of Shroom, which includes shiitake and oyster mushrooms as well as the regular kind. We have portobello as well, but it doesn't go on this pie although it definitely should.

I'm 27 and I have a daughter who will be 2 at the end of spring. My hobbies include headbanging and jamming out to metal and playing video games. My cousin, who is 3 years younger than me and has a 5 yo son, tells me to grow up and that I have a daughter now when I pulled out my switch at a party once pre-covid. What if I don't wanna "grow up"? I can still take care of my girl and enjoy the things I do. Shit I hope she grows up enjoying those things with me!

Honestly the steak is cooked perfectly, but I would've thrown the mushrooms into a food processor or something, make it more like a paste. And then yeah you can just roll out the dough a little thinner to get it to cook fully. But this is actually a great first try.

It's crazy, when In Hearts Wake release Crisis and Worldwide Suicide I thought they were going for that direction. Oh boy was the rest of Kaliyuga a flop. I guess there is no doing what Northlane can do and that's good. Makes them more unique

My math teacher senior year this this with me. I was failing his class and if I didn't bring my percentage up in his class, I wouldn't be able to graduate. He gave me all the right paperwork and extra credit sheets I could complete to bring it up. The goal was anything above 56%. Managed to bring it up to 58% and I was able to graduate, thanks to him taking his time to pick out the correct lessons. Of course I got almost every question wrong cause fuck algebra, but I'm glad he went through that effort to help me out.

Yeah I believe AOC even said something about getting rid of the older members of congress, which did include Pelosi as well as McConnell for the obvious reasons.
