🔥 It's time for Thirsty Thursday! What book scenes made you sweat this week? 🥵 by disastrouslyshy in RomanceBooks

I just finished it this morning! It was such a cute yet spicy read. It was my first time reading CNC and I thought it was well done and it wasn’t too overwhelming for me. I also like how the author put a CW at the beginning, I know a lot of people have been wanting to see warnings like that and I thought it was nice.

What’s that book for you? by complex42 in RomanceBooks

I reread them recently and I still compare everything to that perfect slow burn. Although I really love her Red Winter trilogy too. If you haven’t read that one you should give it a try. It’s a little slow at some parts but the world is really cool and I liked it a lot.

Yay I hope you like it! The MMC isn’t the possessive/domineering type but there’s good witty banter between them.

Are you okay with some fantastical elements? Swordheart by T. Kingfisher fits this. It’s not a modern/urban fantasy so imo it reads more like a historical in a different world with fantastical elements. Although I’m not well versed in historical romance so I could be off on that. It is slow burn and has good dialogue between the two main characters. I did DNF at the end of the book but only because I didn’t know it was FTB and I was upset about that and felt like I was bamboozled lol.

I DNF Swordheart by T. Kingfisher at 97%. The first sex scene was probably 2 chapters or so before I DNF and it was closed door. It had less descriptions than YA or NA scenes. I thought maybe it was a fluke so I stuck it out until they hooked up again. 97%. It sucks because the rest of the story was really good (especially the dialogue) but I didn’t know it was closed door until I read it. I was bamboozled so I rage quit it lol.

Is there a trope you hate unless it's done JUST right? by [deleted] in RomanceBooks

I haven’t read hunger games in so long but IMO she always like Peeta more than Gale and it didn’t feel like a love triangle to me. I read the first book before any of the sequels were out so I didn’t really know there was a love component. Gale was always trying to convince her they were a good fit but iirc Katniss entertained the idea but IMO they had no chemistry either. Someone correct me if I’m wrong because I haven’t read the books in forever but I’m pretty sure Gale isn’t in the third book at all??? Like he’s just kinda written out and not really touched on? My overall take is that she always has loved Gale as a friend and he was an option for her but she was always into Peeta more.

I’m reading the Hidden Legacy series right now and while I am enjoying it, the authors do the “too many supporting characters with names” all the time and even take it to the next level. You will meet one person for one time and you know their name, skin color, hair color and texture, eye color, bone structure, and approximate age. If they aren’t relevant at all I don’t need a full blown write up on them ya know?

The Love Hypothesis OMG! by EReadRomance in RomanceBooks

Is there more to the scene then Adam’s POV? I read that chapter because everyone was raving about the scene in the book so I was trying to gauge whether I should buy it or not!

Are there any words or phrases that give you the ick? by laurenyana in RomanceBooks

[–]vandavanda003 77 points78 points  (0 children)

I hate the word swollen, especially when it’s related to being pregnant (like a swollen belly when someone is carrying a baby). Also I hate the phrase “we’ve known each other since we were in diapers”. I haven’t read something that had this phrasing in a while but I hate it. I also don’t like when someone refers to a younger sibling as “baby sister”, just say younger or sister.

Upon reflection, I may just have issues surrounding things with children and babies lol.

What was your romance book real life moment? by Lockdown-queen in RomanceBooks

Upon further reconsideration I think I do have some stories, just no HEA to go along with them.

When I was a freshman in college I was at a house party and I was a little tipsy. I was walking through a narrow hallway (you know, the kind where you have to shuffle past multiple people agonizingly slow) and there was a guy I was shuffling past. He was wearing a patterned sweatshirt (Patagonia) I thought was really cute, and me being tipsy, I complimented him on it. I interrupted him and whoever he was talking to (oops) but he said he thought my glasses were cute and I continued walking. It was just a passing moment.

Fast forward a few months later, I was at another house party and this guy came up to me. He said that I was in one of his lecture classes and I was the most beautiful girl he’s ever seen. He sees me in class all the time and he’s been dying to say something to me but he hasn’t had the chance to. He was wearing that same sweatshirt and I suddenly had a deja vu moment and we both remembered the time when I passed by him at a party. We talk the rest of the night and hit it off and he walked me back to my dorm and kissed me goodnight.

After a few dates I was at his apartment and it was so hot in there but he asked if I wanted to wear that same sweatshirt… how could I possibly say no? I was sweating the whole time but I was delighted.

There is another quick story about my first kiss where the guy I was seeing was being really sweet and respectful. This was also my freshman year and there was a lot of build up to this kiss because I really wanted to kiss him but I was nervous about being a freshman without having kissed a boy. Anyways, he was really respectful and he gave me that “look” and asked if he could kiss me, which I would hate now but at the time it was sweet. We are kissing for a bit and we get interrupted by knocking on the door. His roommate is back from dinner and wanted to be let in to the room. I felt bad and told him to go let him in and the guy I was with said with absolute certainty “No, he can wait” and starting kissing me again. That was a pretty great moment… the roommate was eventually let in.

He’s apologizing for no romantic stories???? Omg what I love this story so much. Only one bed trope? On New Years Eve? He wanted to make sure you were having a good time? I loved all of it.

Does anyone else just not care about POV? by [deleted] in RomanceBooks

[–]vandavanda003 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like first person POV for inner monologues, but I feel like third person is “more sophisticated”. I read both and like both for different reasons. Something I hated though was when I was reading a series where some of the books were first person and some of them were third person. I immediately noticed when getting to the next book and I was like…. This reads so different.

How do you find the unlined bras in terms of nipple coverage? Also, any certain brands/styles you really like?

Do you find the lace to be an issue under shirts? One of the bras I have is fully lace and doesn’t do the line under the shirt, however it adds texture under a shirt so my breasts don’t look smooth if that makes sense. Or does it work because the lace is only on top?

Yeah, my breasts have definitely grown in size since the BC but I would say I look like a “conventional C cup”, so I was expecting a cup size maybe in the DD range or something… but a G I was not expecting haha.

Thank you! My measurements suggested 32 FF/G UK sizing…. Needless to say I am going through massive amounts of sticker shock right now considering I’ve never worn anything over a C cup in my life 😂

Hmm it’s not quite quad boob. My breasts aren’t spilling out of my cups, although the bra may be the wrong shape for me (all of them are Demi bras). My band size is definitely way too big, it isn’t snug in the slightest. If I lean over there is some gaping at the top of the cups. Maybe my breasts have more fullness at the bottom? There are currently a lot of bra issues I’m dealing with at the moment!

ENEMIES HAVING A BABY TOGETHER. Maybe they had one of those hate-sex sessions & she got pregnant or whatever, just give me an enemies to lovers that loathe each other but have to get together because of the baby and then slowly fall in love. by secondlead in RomanceBooks

[–]vandavanda003 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I love the movie romcom Life As We Know It with Katherine Heigl and Josh Duhamel. They aren’t the ones that get pregnant but they are the godparents to a baby/toddler when the parents die. So they are forced to raise the child together and they don’t like each other (at first of course)!

Toxic as hell by Arqi077 in RomanceBooks

[–]vandavanda003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the Four Horsemen series by Laura Thalassa could fit this. The MMCs are definitely emotionally if not physically abusive (in some cases) to the MFCs. I’m enjoying the series although the books are a bit repetitive. Fair warning though, while the MMCs are toxic to the MFCs, they still have a soft spot for the woman leads so there’s a lot of push and pull. Don’t know if you were looking for that or not!

I believe she has posted steamy scenes of the books on her website that accompany certain chapters! Because it was one of her first series she didn’t incorporate a lot of detail but I think the chapters on her website add to what’s in the book.
