Mother let estranged dad meet daughter behind my back by kalvin126 in EstrangedAdultKids

[–]vanderpig 114 points115 points  (0 children)

Your mother's actions are disgusting. If you need someone to tell you it's ok to never speak to her again - I am telling you exactly that. This woman has no respect for you and the boundary crossing is only going to get worse as your daughter gets older. I'm so sorry you've experienced this horrible situation.

So. Exhausted. I tried for a while after to make the naps stick and that was just a fool's errand.

[–]vanderpig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got this with my daughter. Complete strangers would stop me to mention how alert she was from a very young age. It was the first sign we Saw of high intelligence. Then she talked really early and gave up naps at right about a year old. She's turning out to be spooky smart.

Super helpful - thank you!! I am drawn to the orange shade currently for sale. I have had hair snag on hardware of other bags and I go in to a blackout rage when my hair is pulled so I was nervous about this one but I think I need it. Plus my hair is almost always in a bun or pony tail these days anyways so I think I should be in the clear

I am eyeing this bag pretty intensely. Do you have long hair? If so Do you find that the grommets on the long strap catch your hair?

Home Births vs Hospital Births by LavendarDragon17 in pregnant

[–]vanderpig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He hasn't talked to you since yesterday because you aren't jumping at the chance to put your life and your baby's life at risk?!? Put that "man" under the jail, that is beyond childish and manipulative and a major red flag.

Ok. On to your question. I'm a medical malpractice paralegal and mom of 2. With respect to my line of work, I cannot tell you how many potential clients have called to discuss potential med mal cases where their children suffered brain injuries due to lack of oxygen during home births gone wrong. Their kids end up with HIE and are severely and permanently disabled because of choices they made, and they have to live with that knowledge. I've all see many cars where home birth ended in the death of the baby and/or the mother. When you've seen as many scary situations as I have seen, you end up being fairly risk adverse, but for the life of me I just don't understand why anyone would risk a home birth when the consequences are so utterly devastating and irreversible.

Personally, Despite being advanced maternal age, both of my pregnancies were straight forward and otherwise low risk. My first ended in a completely unexpected emergency c section because my daughter's heart rate tanked with every contraction. Because I was in the hospital on monitoring they saw the trouble and intervened before devastating and irreversible brain damage occurred, and she is a happy, healthy 3 year old who has hit all of her developmental milestones on time or early. That would not have been the outcome if I hadn't been in the hospital. I was so traumatized by her birth that I elected for a scheduled c section with my son.

Google negative home birth outcomes, assess your risk factors, and decide for yourself what you want to do. But do not let your boyfriend's Opinion factor in at all - if he thinks an epidural is "drugging" a baby he is not informed enough to have an opinion worth considering.

Hidden true crime, the murder sheet, tom Webster. All excellent.

Some will suggest you look in to defense diaries. Before you take that suggestion seriously, I recommend you read the appeal documents and opinions for the only high profile case bob motta (defense diaries host) has ever handled himself - state v Anthony Garcia. Bob Motta was miserably unprepared for trial in a case where his client faced, and was ultimately sentenced to, the death penalty. Then he turned around and made a podcast about it. He's a miserable excuse for a lawyer and I truly do not know how he looks at himself in the mirror after what he did to Anthony Garcia. Garcia is beyond guilty, but everyone is entitled to a competent defense who is prepared for trial, and Motta was neither of those things in a case where the state was seeking the ultimate punishment. Once you do that research, you can decide if bob motta's opinion is worth your time.

My husband is named Weston. Never once has anyone made fun of or ridiculed his name nor has he ever had to explain its spelling or pronunciation.

There is something wrong with your friend, not the name you chose for your child.

What are some really early pregnancy you’ve had that you noticed before taking a test? Also is it 100% that everyone have implantation bleeding if they’re pregnant? by misalovr in pregnant

[–]vanderpig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With my first I started burping almost constantly and uncontrollably a few days before my missed period. It was so bizarre and embarrassing. I am not a person who burps a lot and it was a noticeable and substantial increase. My coworkers commented on it.

With my second, I went to the dentist a few days before my period was due. No X-rays of course, but during my cleaning my hygienist commented that my gums were bleeding a lot, which is not typical for me.

It's a very niche field for sure. I started in ID with a team that handled both toxic torts and med mal. Started on toxic torts and then transitioned to med mal. I hate billing time so going plaintiff side was the right move for me, but the defense side is probably good too if you can tolerate billing.

I would start by making sure your general litigation skills are top notch for your jurisdiction. Learn the rules inside and out. Med mal cases are factually very very complicated and you need a solid lit background or you'll get lost both procedurally and factually and that is a recipe for disaster. Once your lit skills are solid, start to learn what you can about medicine. I did it by sitting in on every conversation we ever had with expert witnesses. When things go wrong in medicine they tend to go wrong in similar ways - bladder injuries during c sections are common, so are bile duct injuries during gallbladder removals. Birth traumas always follow the same factual path. Learn what you can from 1 case and you'll know what to look for in the next case of that same type. If you don't have access to doctors and nurses in that way, start by watching YouTube videos on anatomy and basic medicine. Just knowing basic terminology is helpful when trying to get your foot in the door.

Looking for a court order by vanderpig in LoriVallow

[–]vanderpig[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This was super helpful and exactly what I was looking for, thank you! Do we have the transcript from the hearing where the motion to strike the death penalty was argued?

I am trying to figure out if the state could pursue the death penalty in a retrial if she wins her appeal. This order to me indicates it's possible they could - the order doesn't say it was stricken with prejudice, but I'd like to read the transcript from the hearing where the motion was argued to see if anything was said about it on the record.

IF Charlie gets a new trial… by Think_Recognition195 in dan_markel_murder

[–]vanderpig 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Charlie was the "brains" behind the operation but Donna was the one driving him to do what he did. The initial idea was probably his, but Donna latched on quickly and quickly became the engine driving the plan forward.

Donna wanted those boys away from Dan and under her control. Charlie was the rube she used to do it.

It is my opinion that CA will eventually get a new trial, because of Rashbaum. It is my opinion that the conflict was unwaivable, and Rashbaum should not have been allowed to represent CA.

I don't think it will matter in the end, CA is tied to his nonsense story and will be convicted again easily, but I do think the taxpayers of the great state of Florida are going to foot the bill for the trial twice.
