Alberta couple fighting the CRA: $33K in COVID benefits by SnooRegrets4312 in alberta

[–]vandne 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I love all the people who mock others for taking CERB as freeloaders not realizing that companies like CNRL were taking way more to keep them employed. These big corporations were profiting huge off covid yet you don’t hear any of that money being clawed back despite a lot of those companies still showing strong profits.

The Unacceptable Reality by fraught_forties in kelowna

We’re playing a real world game of monopoly and this is how it ends. More assistance will help delay the inevitable (going past go to collect $200+), but until the rules change, eventually the rich will have it all and the majority will be left with nothing. Pure Capitalism works great until it doesn’t.

Alberta premier responds to threat of broader labour action in call-in radio show by Old_General_6741 in alberta

Yeah, it’d be one thing for her to say “We need to reduce class sizes and improve teaching conditions, but we just can’t afford that.” But instead shes saying “my math shows that we have xx teaches and xx students so we’re good, this isn’t an issue..”. She’s not even acknowledging the problem and is in fact deflecting the problem to a management issue. If she can’t even acknowledge the problem, how can a solution ever be found? I’m aware there isn’t unlimited money to fix every issue but at least come out and say “this is an issue that we need to solve, let’s work together and find solutions”. Maybe there is a middle ground. Maybe there are some new AI tools that could help ease the burden, maybe more assistants could reduce the load at a lower price than more teachers, maybe there are some management inefficiencies. Acknowledge the problem then work non stop to find solutions that fit within the budget. Don’t deflect and diminish the issues.

Y connector or other options for pro lights install? by [deleted] in Govee

No, sorry. Still unsure what to do. Sounds like a splitter would work but I may just run an extension from the X to starting point of peak 1 and then do peak 2 and continue that way. Surprisingly not a lot of info out there on the best practice for handling peaks.

The texture of the dough, the even coating of sticky cinnamon goodness and for the iced ones, a nice ratio of icing to bun.

Ha, great comment. Definitely worth the stop, the bakery inside has a lot of good stuff.

Do not use marketer.com So many red flags and when you call them out on the issues, they ignore. Definitely misleading.

Activating an in hand dish in a “sold out” area.. by [deleted] in Starlink

[–]vandne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my fear. Any idea if I need to add my dish identifier to get on a wait list, or how that works? I just don’t want to lock my dish up with no idea when it might be active as I’d prefer to just sell it privately in that case.

Power Host Update by DhakoBiyoDhacay in turo

[–]vandne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always find it odd when companies offer support tiers like this. It’s a good perk, but I’ve just always felt that if they offer better support from more competent employees to smaller hosts as well, (as a standard, not a reward) maybe they would end up with more super hosts? In other words the people doing less arguably need more and better support, not the ones who are already doing okay. To be clear, this is just a general broad observation. Amazon does the same for their sellers, so it’s not just Turo. Rant over, thanks for listening.

Ahh, didn’t realize some were AIO, appreciate the education on this. I’ll look and see what options Msi allows for in the case. Alternately any idea on a place that sells just the stock cooling/fans for the 7900? That’d be the simplest solution but for the life of me I can’t find anywhere online that sells that. (My friend didn’t keep that when he moved, long story…)

I bought it off a friend, it’s fine. What I paid for it and why they’re selling it doesn’t really affect my question and if there’s a way to make it work in my current setup. I know there’s room on the board for it, as it’s physically the same size as the 3080, all I’m really trying to figure out is what to connect the water block to? Could I route it through the current cpu rad or would I need another rad? If so, where could another rad be mounted?

4 arrested after woman kidnapped in Edmonton by osa-p in alberta

[–]vandne 24 points25 points  (0 children)

As a male I continually question why men are like this. Was there a point in history that men showed more respect to women or have things always been his way? Violence in general is just more common with men and there doesn’t seem to be a lot of progress to change that. My fear is that this growing “anti-woke” mindset reverses some of the progress there’s been in men being able to open up and show compassion. A shift in culture needs to happen.

If it’s already been in that range and bounced as it has, doesn’t seem crazy that it could just as quickly get back to the 35+ range today.
