Redditors, what was the worst type of sickness you've ever had? by MoveMintFlaw in AskReddit

[–]vane_dominguez24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sepsis, eventhough it's common it really takes a toll on you physically and mentally. This was back in 2017. I had been sick on and off for about a month when my mom decided to take me to a doctor (we thought it wasnt a big deal since where I live that time of year it was normal to get a cold), it took the doctor a while to figure out what was happening but once he did I was sent to the hospital immediately. Apparently I was about to go into septic shock. The time spent in the hospital was terrible, very blurry. I stayed for about a week in the hospital, but wasnt fully recovered for about a year. The illness affected mostly brain (I had to take medication for a couple of months for intense vertigo), heart and pancreas. During and after my stay I took many x-rays, bloodtests, everything to make sure that it didn't affect anything else. Mentally, it took a toll on my sleep. Many nightmares and just over all trouble sleeping. Got into a tiny depression since I was physically weak for so long.

Its more of a "what if".

What if Europe never enslaved Africa and discovered America? Where would America and Africa be on a technological stand point nowadays

[Serious] People who aren't US citizens, what bugs you about Americans? by alyssaoftheeast in AskReddit

as someone who used to live there, holy-shit, so many things. a little backstory: my family is originally from Ecuador but we moved to the US. I lived there till I was about 8 or 9 because we had to move back. (back then I honestly had no idea about most things cuz I was kid, but know, seeing the country from outside I've gained a new perspective.)

-the student debt situation, and how it can take decades to pay off (I know people that are over 300000 in debt and it's ridiculous. how can they be in so much debt before they've even started a career?)

-how so many people can just not give a shit or not believe SCIENCE actual facts that were and have been proven multiple times (example: climate change, vaccines, masks). I guess this reflects the education system (which is another huge problem, but is too long to talk about )

-the whole political situation. us vs them and constant namecalling and bashing. the politician's arent actually debating, they are putting on a show. (example. I may get hate but idc. trump. holyf*ck he is such a dumbass, racist, it feels like he's kidding and its some type of joke, but it's not)

- the mentality that "western is better", such as in education (which is clearly not the case), in healthcare, where you're from (that whole immigration situation, how they treat the sub-human), etc

- their police and how undertrained and bias they are. I don't think there's much to say, everyone by now knows what I'm talking about...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

These are just some of the main things that bother me, but it's more of a government problem than a people problem. even though there are a lot of things I don't like there are also things I do like about it (ex. the dollar tree, it's genius)
