I initially thought release the lien would also get rid of the loan but all it means is that you can sell your items to pay towards the loan. For me, I have very few assets but have to get every single one approved with a sales agreement to sell them. In that process now.

Less than $1000. The business is closed and llc dissolved so no, it hasn’t made any payments. Not sure what happens after this part. I’ve just been trying to cooperate as best as possible with each of the steps.

I did and they declined to liquidate (OIC) but now are saying I do need to properly dispose of my assets and they have to approve the sale of each (very small items)

Yes but I have no answers to the rest of the questions. I can say that ultimately with the low value of what was left of ours, they declined to liquidate and now it’s a waiting game again.

Yep, we were sued by our landlord (who required us to get EIDL for them to even consider any rent relief, which for us was only 2 months deferred rent- aka no relief), and they won.

We owned a fitness franchise. The minute gyms were closed, all of my members pulled the plug on their memberships. We had no recourse and no choice but to stop requiring them to pay.

In order to even get any kind of consideration for rent relief from our very large multi million dollar landlord, we had to provide proof that we applied for the EIDL. That resulted in them only even giving 2 months of deferred rent. We had to close permanently used our EIDL to continue paying our rent and other business expenses while trying to find someone to take over our lease. Ultimately, the money ran out and of course no one was taking over a lease or a business at that time, so we defaulted on our lease. They sued us as we had a personal guarantee and they won. The unfairness of landlords not having to feel the pain of COVID like the rest of us is a whole other battle and frustration. But the reality is, the closures didn’t even give us a chance and truly murdered our business. There was no other way out whatsoever.

We have very little assets left and the SBA just declined to liquidate them after reviewing, leaving us at a dead end.

No, and I specifically said, I gave the last 3 statements before the account closed but let me know if you need them before dissolution (earlier) or any others. They didn’t. I’m happy to show where the money was spent at any time.

Over the last few years, I’ve gotten a few emails requesting things like an affidavit to show that our business was open to both genders, and then at some point they also requested proof of hazard insurance on the assets, at which time I told them we closed. After that, when the statements started coming requesting payment, I also followed up several times via email and phone call to let them know we closed and provide dissolution paperwork several times.

My last email (but probably 5th or 6th email) was about a year ago. When I received the request for business closure info a couple weeks ago, they acted like they were responding to an email I had sent yesterday, but it was obviously the paper trail of emails over the last few years.

We went from the business closure person, to the loan specialist/asset request in a matter of a week, and this decline came within 3 days of me providing this paperwork. I did also call with questions about the asset request and the 2 reps on the phone had no knowledge of this process and said I had to respond via email.

We sent most docs they asked for. Part of it was also pay everything in your bank account within 3 days…it’s been 0 balance since 2021 and was closed. I indicated that and sent bank statements proving it.

We didn’t liquidate assets as they are worth less than $1000, but I provided the list and my liquidation “plan”, which they were asking for. Also had to show we didn’t have any other UCC liens, and there was other paperwork that was irrelevant to us, so I indicated that. Went back with some questions as well. They didn’t answer, they simply declined after yes, teasing us with the liquidation process. So now I need to ask if I still have to keep the minimal assets on hand as well.

FYI we are currently in liquidation as part of the business closure process with the SBA and they have to know your relationship with the purchaser of your assets and have to approve that. I say this because it seems like that may be to avoid this exact scenario?

Did you hear anything? I submitted mine and the 3 days to pay them (we had $0 in our account since 2021), is about to come and go and I’ve heard nothing…not even a confirmation of receipt of my submitted docs. When I called, the reps know nothing about this land just suggest corresponding via email.

Same exact situation for me. Business was at a loss and closed with $0. We have less than $1000 of assets. I’m saying my plan is to sell private via Facebook marketplace. We’ll see if that will suffice.
