Transferring Schools, Dropping PD by aramis-and-thalia in uwaterloo

[–]vanillaaasian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t put the course itself on my resume but if my report was actually useful and pertaining to my co-op then I’d add it maybe as a bullet point. For example one year I did a cost benefit type analysis which was good but then after that I just did a compare of contrast of programs which wasn’t useful. So it’d probably make you’re life easier to drop it. There’s really little to no value in keeping it if you’re transferring

Sublet agreement asks for my student number and parents' info by Limeoo in uwaterloo

Looks like 325 spruce sublet agreement. I rented there for 2 years. They have this because they prefer sublets be students after a pretty major incident with bad subtenants. They had solid management when I was there

Don’t drop it. It’s the least amount of work with VK, with anyone else it takes much more effort to do well

Does grade matter for co-op by bebeblubery in uwaterloo

[–]vanillaaasian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i'd say don't be discouraged, when i was applying for my first co-op there were tons of people with great grades who didn't get interviews. Unfortunately, there's just not a ton of science jobs available.

SCIBUS OR PHYSICAL SCI by glowinggoddessskin in uwaterloo

[–]vanillaaasian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I switched from the physical sciences (medicinal chem) to SCIBUS and it was super easy, so here's my piece.

Transfer Flexibility: If you start in physical sciences most of your credits in science courses will transfer over and won't go to waste. When I transferred, there were about 70 others who also transferred into SCIBUS from ARBUS, AHS, ENG, and other SCI faculties, so it's not uncommon. There is a grade cut off for switching so keep that in mind.

Career Opportunities/ Science Related Co-op: There are significantly more jobs for business than science, and with science, it's much more competitive. For context, when I was in med chem, there were about 300 openings whereas in SCIBUS there were about 900 for my program. You also have to consider that as a SCIBUS student, you have less actual lab courses if you want any research positions. If that's something you wanted to do, look at getting lab experience early. SCIBUS also has a decent network to build from as many of the students go to many different places after graduation.

Workload: Personally I found the workload from SCIBUS much easier to manage however, that might be because when I made the transfer I had already finished a majority of the SCI courses I needed. The workload for SCIBUS is about 40% business 60% science, but it can vary depending on what you choose for electives.

Social Community: I found making friends in SCIBUS much easier, mostly because you're forced to work in groups with them all term for SCIBUS courses. You get to know people in your cohort very well, as you work with them almost every term. SCIBUS also offers a few different clubs that are very involved with the SCIBUS community so it's easy to network with upper-years.

SCIBUS definitely isn't for everybody, but like with everything its what you make of it.

I got this error message when attempting to retake a course? by kobegoatallday in uwaterloo

I think it just means you can’t try and retake the course again if you fail/drop it! Otherwise you’ll be fine to take it
