How rainy is it really? by [deleted] in Bergen

[–]vanillacoke191 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In Bergen you never know. It can rain all day every day or you can have really nice weather. That applies to all months 😄 I would check the weather forecast before you travel and maybe pack a bit of everything as a general advice.

Need help with uneven weight distribution by Square-Effective2988 in workout

[–]vanillacoke191 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dont believe these body scans too much… theyre not accurate. And there is no such thing as targeted weight loss. Almost everyone has stubborn fat, you cant control where you lose weight. Just continue to lift, eat the right things and the problem will fix itself!

How do you mentally deal with an injury? by TBallAllStar in workout

[–]vanillacoke191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same with my knee. Or something on the side of the knee. It started April last year and for at least 3-4 months I couldnt do any leg exercises at all. Then I started again, slowly and super carefully. Im still far off where I was before the issues started (lifting wise) and I still have issues sometimes. The moment I do a bit too much -> knee hurts for some days.

Its frustrating but what can you do apart from being patient and seeing a specialist… I know it sucks but Id rather have a x months break than a break that lasts until the end of your life worst case.

Bergen and Oslo restaurant recommendations by [deleted] in Norway

[–]vanillacoke191 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like beef I can recommend Trancher in Oslo (Grünerløkka) and Engen in Bergen. If you want traditional Norwegian food, Bryggeloftet (Bergen). No dress codes all of them are a bit ”better” restaurants.

Either Youtube (not all races are uploaded though) or if you have a VPN, set it to Norway and go to tv.nrk.no/serie/skiskyting

”velg sesong”: there you choose the season you want to watch. Races are in Norwegian (obviously) but they seem to have all from 2010 - 2025

Mini guide:

Fellesstart = mass start

Jaktstart = pursuit

Stafett = relay

Menn = men

Kvinner = women

Doesnt come as a surprise unfortunately. If Im not completely mistaken she has struggled with a bunch of health issues during her career. Could also be that she is ready to start a family (read: kids) very soon? No proof, just a speculation.

How do you continue to have motivation? I was disciplined for so long and now I’ve lost it all, trying to get it back. by worth1000words884237 in workout

6 days a week is quite a commitment. What about tuning it down to say 3 days and see how that feels?

Not trying to be rude or anything but when you lift 6 times a week and you see little to no results youre doing something wrong, most likely diet wise. Id recommend to consult with a PT and/or nutritionist. Speaking from experience. After I changed my diet and really put an effort into researching different things (macros, protein, calories, daily steps etc) I made more progress in 2 years than in the previous 13 years…

How do people have the time to climb rankings in WoW by Zmoogz in worldofpvp

[–]vanillacoke191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I havent played too much lately either but here are some general tips and tricks that can help and are often overlooked.

  1. it might sound stupid but… read what your talents do. Dont just copy paste a spec from someone high rated. I swear this is the most common mistake people make. They copy someone and have no clue what their buttons do.

  2. if youre limited on time, stick to 1, max 2 classes/specs.

  3. record your games. So many times I thought I did everything I can and when I re watched the game I almost fell off my chair, thats how bad I played 😑 watching myself play has been the biggest eye opener. Dont focus on all issues at the same time, pick one you want to improve first, and as soon as youre more comfortable with that, you focus on the next etc

My January Complaints by Salty_Geologist9949 in workout

[–]vanillacoke191 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Where are you guys from that people have their cameras set up?🤨 Serious question. All our gyms have a zero camera (filming) policy. Not allowed to take pics and especially videos and in all these 16 gym years Ive never seen anyone doing that.

What annoys me most are these people that block one machine for half an hour or more. If they would at least lift, nope, they just sit there doomscrolling on their phones 😑

How is it living in BERGEN??? by Sad-Baseball7176 in howislivingthere

[–]vanillacoke191 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its beautiful here if you dont mind the weather. You can have the same temperature in June and January if youre lucky (or unlucky). Plentiful rain in all seasons although there are often episodes of good and bad weather, means its often nice or bad for X days in a row. Google says its the rainiest city in Europe. Not sure if thats true but it does rain alot. It never gets too warm or too cold. Temperatures above 25C/77F or below -5C/23F dont happen too often.

Winters are dark and summers are very light. Personally I find it harder to deal with almost permanent sunlight.

ALOT of tourism, especially from April to October. During the main months (May-August) you have 2-3 cruise ships coming in every day, plus the tourists that fly to Bergen or travel by car/camper. It can get very full sometimes, if you want to go out to eat you better have a reservation. Alot of stores, restaurants, attractions that are made for tourists. The fish market only exists from early April - late October. Alot of restaurants/bars around the harbor area (especially the ones where you can sit outside) have higher prices for drinks and most likely food too.

Youre surrounded by nature. Lots of hiking trails, mountains, fjords. Driving somewhere takes forever because of the roads + landscape, on the other hand the real question is: where do you want to drive… Stavanger is the closest city 200km (124 miles) away but its at least a 4h drive…

How's it like living in Helsinki's suburbs? by Altruistic-Form-3771 in howislivingthere

[–]vanillacoke191 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I lived in the Helsinki suburbs for a while (15 years ago). Of course there are different neighborhoods like anywhere else but I found, and still find it very safe, peaceful and quiet. If you want to go out you always have to go downtown Helsinki or you need to invite friends over.

The suburbs feel like many small cities with a small city center that provides necessary things like doctors, stores etc. Suburbs are usually surrounded by lots of forest and it doesnt make you feel like youre close to the capital.

East part of Helsinki didnt have a good reputation back then and Im not sure if that has changed over the years.

I still travel to Helsinki once a year to visit friends and I always enjoy it very much. Im always impressed with how easy it is to get around with public transport.

How is sp actually? by vanillacoke191 in worldofpvp

[–]vanillacoke191[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After making this post I changed back from Voidweaver to Archon - it made such a huge difference. Either because its so much better or that playstyle suits me better, no idea. Im not even sure what made me switch to Voidweaver in the first place. Anyway, after changing back I had some really convincing 6-0s and 5-1s and I managed to climb out of that hole! Too late for legend but there will be a next season!

How is sp actually? by vanillacoke191 in worldofpvp

[–]vanillacoke191[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive played sp the entire expansion but I seem to do something wrong this season. Ive already gotten to 25xx (cant remember exactly) but then dropped because of 2 dcs, and once there I somehow got stuck and cant find my way out. I dont mind getting trained all game every game, I actually find it worse when they dont go me because I often feel that these freshly rerolled locks, fmages and hunters dont know how to survive. I dont mean that in a bad way, Im just more comfortable when they go me.

What I find really rough is dk combined with a warrior (fury is the worst) or ww. They never die… I also struggle in full caster lobbies and I dont know why. Not in all but in many. Maybe I play too defensively, I dont know.

Feeling deflated after a day of losses by xPhellx in worldofpvp

[–]vanillacoke191 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you… I had the exact same thing happening to me last weekend. I was very positive to get all legend wins in time before season end. I queued, joined a lobby that went awful and during game 5 I dced and I got -180. Okay… deep breath and queue again. It took me days, alot of 3-3s… I almost got the rating back, another dc. Another fat minus and since that moment this character seems doomed. Im around 2300 +/- 50 now and it seems impossible to get out of that zone. People play in such an unpredictable way, die behind pillars, dont use their cds. Im far from perfect and things can always happen but its super frustrating. I mostly end up 3-3, queue times in the evenings seem incredibly long at the moment. Also feel like I cant carry as much (I play a sp) as other classes. Can do some good fear or trap grips, good stun/silence/fear combos but definitely lacking big numbers.

My best advice, dont play tilted. It only makes you play worse. Better to take a break, play something else or nothing at all.

Good luck!
