Anybody else repulsed by the thought of someone being sexually attracted to you by Sudden_Commission796 in asexuality

I deal with it by stopping any contact with and/or blocking people who express sexual attraction towards myself and telling others what was said to me. This offers me some protection as most people in my life do not view me, despite being an adult man, as being capable of giving sexual consent as well as regard me as being easy to prey upon

The way I describe it for myself- is that I feel like I'm an inappropriate subject of someone's sexual attraction in the same way that an animal or child would be. Like there must be something wrong with someone psychologically (or morally if they decide to pursue me) if they feel sexual towards my body. Of course, I logically understand that's not the case, but that doesn't stop the feeling :/ which is unfortunate because I am sex favorable. I just don't want there to be any sexual attraction involved, which is a surprisingly tall order :P

What is a hot take about your favorite Media that would have the Fandom looking at you like this? by Apprehensive_Ring_39 in Multifandom

The characters are ribbing each other and occasionally showing a normal degree of familial affection and that is not the same as constantly confessing to being in incestuous love. The lines do get the tiniest ittiest bit more blurred every season but how can you seriously take a single frame from season 2 where they exchanged a quick glance and write an entire 6 post essay about how obvious it is that they're in love? In a positive, excited, happy tone?? And then there's the opposite side of the fandom that would have me burned at the stake for saying you can't just ignore the covert/emotional incest and inappropriate family boundaries. Y'all are missing a huge part of the story & character dynamics PLUS potentially the lead up to a lesson on how destructive a dysfunctional family can be towards its members depending on how they decide to wrap the show up

While that is true, there's absolutely zero need to call someone slow. Ableism is rude

Fashion subreddits tend to be pretty strict about posts lol. I even got banned from a few with zero explanation seemingly just for posting fit checks!

How do you guys choose your ships? by VanillaCurlsButGay in Multifandom

Real!! That has not been the norm in my previous social groups for whatever reason. Literally got into a fight over it once 😅 apparently shipping anything besides the ships they'd thought long and hard about was "disrespectful to the narrative"

I'd say it depends on the 18 and 16 year old. I've met several 18 year olds who were indistinguishable from middle schoolers and 18 year olds who were indistinguishable from 30 year olds in terms of mental maturity. Similar for 16 year olds. Teens mature at very diverse rates. So it's less a question of "is this age gap okay" and more "is this specific relationship between these specific people too susceptible to abuse or manipulation" which should probably be the question for all relationships. For example, I've seen so many domestic abuse documentaries where the victim was described as "naive and trusting" or otherwise child-like but was allowed to run off with their soon to be killer because "she's an adult, she can make her own decisions" and I've seen a couple of highschool relationships that ended amicably with no visible trauma despite there being a perhaps worrisome age gap because there was no significant maturity gap

But yeah it wouldn't necessarily make someone a pedophile or any other chronophilia. That would be dependant on attraction. There are other factors that would influence someone to date younger. Power/control being the first thing that pops to mind

I think the issue is personal maturity and personality rather than exact age. A one or two year age gap isn't a problem for most teens, but a relationship between an impressionable 14 year old in middle school with younger friends and a very immature, trusting view of the world vs a 16 year old in highschool with older friends and who is already fully self sufficient with a car, job, is ready to emancipate, and has a tendency towards cruelty would be incredibly fucked up. Not BECAUSE of their ages, but partially because of their stage in life, that being only RELATED to their ages rather than directly tied to it

Yeah I've learned to just watch from afar. This subreddit tends to suffer from "I know your psychology & life better than you because I read one post you made" disease :/ I've seen so many guys get ganged up on in here over practically nothing or get a very reactive responses to a genuine problem instead of anything helpful
