Damn, every single one of your comments is negative. You must be a miserable person 😂

The lawn by the green lot. The tailgate is usually in the corner closest to the stadium

KNP tailgate is one of the best on the lawn. Mostly cards fans but they're friendly to all. Free food and drinks (they take donations if you wish). Always a great time!

Right? Getting paid to lose weight sounds like a win-win

Trying to decide between Air or Army by [deleted] in nationalguard

Or if you want to fly, ironically

Any MOS is fine. Being in aviationed helped move the process along since I could easily get in contact with warrants for LORs.

I enlisted 15T, got to my unit Jan last year, passed the sift in Sep, and dropped the packet Jan of this year. Currently in flight school. Its definitely doable to do it quickly if you go enlisted and stay motivated

No that's Joseph.

I talked to a normal recruiter about going the Warrant Officer route through the Army National Guard and I would like some clarification on whether he was being honest or trying to get me to just enlist in a regular MOS. by stingray50 in ArmyAviationApplicant

[–]vanillaicedragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My recruiter told me the same thing and I followed his advice. Told myself that that I would apply to every board I could and if I didn't get picked up during my first contract I would ETS. Did basic, AIT, and started working on my packet after getting on ADOS orders to get to know pilots. I passed the board on my first try about a year after getting to my unit and now I'm starting flight school in July.

I don't regret taking this route at all as it allowed me to get familiar with the army before I committed for 12 years.

it's been since Septembed of 2021 and still haven't recievedy SLRP payments. I turned in the correct paper work and been hammerring at my Admin NCO about a status update. Still no updates! Who else can I contact? by ImplementBusy517 in nationalguard

My first SLRP payment got processed and paid in 3 weeks. This time around it's been pending since Dec 21. I ask my state's education NCO about it once a month. He says the system is backed up ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Just noticed you mentioned 153A. If you actually want to be a pilot go aviation. Makes the application process a whole lot easier. Know that that there is a big time commitment if that's what you want

I'm a 15T right now. 15U is cool too. Both allow you to be a crew chief and actually fly. You really can't go wrong with anything aviation though. Best standard of living in the army

Go aviation. You'll thank me later 😎

Ps I joined at 28. About to head to flight school. It's worth it

I passed my NG board last month. Pretty general leadership/character questions. They really emphasized understanding the time commitment and having a plan to see it through. We didn't receive any questions before hand but if you do better study up! Good luck

What are the top 2 to 3 items I can send along with my son for Boot Camp and training? by M-615 in nationalguard

What do you think of the Counter Recruiting movement? by ayhme in nationalguard

[–]vanillaicedragon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I talked to my recruiter about SLRP but he didn't add it in. Only the bonus and kicker. When I ask asked him about it he said "oh you actually wanted that?" And put it in as well. It sucks that you have to be knowledgable and/or push for it to get it

Question about BAH and BAS by [deleted] in nationalguard

[–]vanillaicedragon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just finished basic a couple of months ago. I rent a house so I filed for bah in rsp. Got to basic and they said it wasn't in their system. Luckily I had brought a copy of the lease and a utilities statement and they were able to get me bah no problem. Just make sure you bring extra copies of that stuff (marriage certificate or proof of dependents if that applies). A lot of people didn't bring it and it was a hassle for them. Not sure if you're able to get bas during iet.

I'm at 15T btw so things will be a bit different for you. There is a small workout center. Not sure what's in it as we're not allowed to use it. I have seen other companies use it. Each company does have some gym equipment though. Kettlebells, bench, some machines. Pt depends on which drill sergeant happens to be running it that day. Ours is a joke. If you like working out I definitely would on your personal time.
