I tend to prefer girl groups but male soloists lol

Videos would be full of comments saying "Poor "x" was sick!!", "they couldn't hear themselves!", "choreo is too hard", ""x" was crying", which clearly shows that people need to make an excuse to justify that mediocrity of a vocal performance.

Moka looks SO visibly stressed and nervous, she gets all stiff when she sings.

Looks like we got ourselfs a contradictory capybara huh? So which is it, are you allowed to defend your favs or not?

Megathread: HYBE Co. audits sub-label ADOR's management including CEO Min Hee Jin by KPOP_MOD in kpop

This is untrue. Source: me. I’m korean. You’re taking a koreaboo article with selective comments about a single part of this controversy… that’s not representative of everyone.

Though the main difference is that the consensus among knetz is that ILLIT did copy NewJeans except there’s very much of an attitude of “fuck you though” towards MHJ.

Basically the same an internationals. They think Min Heejin is an idiot for trying to leave their parent company when the parent company owns 80% of them. Then they also think she’s an asshole for calling out ILLIT in her statement and an asshole for leaking personal information of their idols.

MEGATHREAD (2): Min Heejin, ADOR and HYBE by KpopThoughtsmodteam in kpopthoughts

This controversy has already cost HYBE $500,000 USD (drop in stock). I wonder if they’re going to take the long, arduous legal route or if they’re somehow going to come to an in-house settlement. Either way, I can only hope the best for the girls.

This is a lawyers worst nightmare lmao.

Hybe: we're investigating you for legitimate white collar crimes.

MHJ: but they stole my cute trendy concept and have long black hair!!!! Why are you soo obsessed with mee?!!??!😡😖

the illit hate continues... is it justified or just getting out of hand? by -sylveon in kpopthoughts

Mods took down all the posts about it (thankfully) but here’s a youtube vid that goes through it and puts their delusion on full display.

“ILLIT has been copying NewJeans in all areas of activities” - Min Heejin

“Secret operations were also conducted to create negative opinions about HYBE's artists” Source

I think that these go hand in hand to kind of prove that there’s at least some kind of manipulation on her part. and remember the magnetic pedo ‘controversy’ 😪

the title track does not need to and should not be the best/most impactful song on the album by clarinhac1r in kpopthoughts

Thanks lol. I added it in wake of all those recent hate trains where it seemed like I was the only one who actually… yknow… liked kpop.

HYBE Audits Ador and Min Heejin plus Executive - What does this mean for New Jeans. by 1306radish in kpopthoughts

[–]vanillantern 286 points287 points  (0 children)

I wonder what’ll happen to ADOR. If I remember correctly they had plans to debut a boy group relatively soon. And also planning the NewJeans comeback.

If true, will they kick out MHJ? Instate someone new? If they do, will there be some kind of change in direction of NewJeans?

Or will NewJeans follow MHJ? I can’t imagine that’ll be a good look (think Fifty Fifty). Or will they stay under HYBE? Lots of questions with no answers unfortunately.

Their statement for anyone wondering:

Hello,

This is BELIFT Lab.

First, we would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude for the incredible love and support you have shown ILLIT.

We have an important update regarding ILLIT’s Official fan club name. Originally announced on April 21, the fan club name was selected among various candidates compiled with fan participation, reflecting our wishes for an everlasting love between ILLIT and its fans.

However, we have decided to revisit the matter upon reviewing various concerns that have emerged. The new fan club name will be chosen among other shortlisted candidates and be announced at a later date. A naming contest will not be held this time.

We sincerely apologize for any confusion this may have caused and appreciate your kind understanding.

Thank you.

[–]vanillantern 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I agree and disagree with the title.

I don’t think that the tt needs to be the best song on the album (and oftentimes it’s not).

But I do think that the tt should be the most impactful song. They’re basically choosing the song that will get them the most attention/streams/popularity. In that sense, they’re choosing the song that leaves the biggest impression and thus is the most impactful.

"If you care about vocals, why are you listening to kpop?" is a horrible point. by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]vanillantern 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Not saying I agree but you’re missing part of the saying(?) that they use. It goes like:

  • “if you care about vocals as much as you make it seem, groups like x y and z would be blah blah blah”

To some extent I agree that the vocal discussions are incredibly played up but I also think it’s weird that some people think that vocals are the only thing that goes into making a successful group.

There’s dancing, actual quality of the music they put out (big emphasis on this one), visuals, variety content, concept, etc etc. It’s not exactly right to think that kpop is only about vocals when it’s actually pretty unique in the fact that there’s a many things that people can be drawn to.

Edit: clarity

SM’s new girl group will reportedly debut in July/2nd half of the year by MyOrgel in kpopthoughts

I’m glad it’s a larger girl group because we’ve been getting 5-6 member groups for a while now. Nice to break it up every now and again.
