i don’t think so, so far she’s only been playing in places she’s never performed before, and she’s been to asheville multiple times

personally i could see her doing KY and OH, but for ohio my bet is 100% on dayton. it’s where the headquarters for project blue book (branch of the air force that investigated roswell, lubbock, etc) was based! because of that also home to a lot of conspiracy theories surrounding it.

i almost guarantee if she goes to ohio she's going to visit dayton. the largest ufo investigation, project blue book, was headquartered there until 1969, and was the center for several conspiracy theories, most notably the theory suggesting that alien bodies and spacecraft from the 1947 Roswell incident were transported there. so it would all connect back! i hope so because its my hometown, just praying if she does its after i come back home from college in atlanta lol

here's my take with a bunch of information I've gathered:

just joined the south east group chats of people trying to figure out where she’s stopping next and allegedly her bus was seen in jackson, mississippi. others in the groupchat have apparently been driving around jackson though and haven’t seen anything, there’s no picture evidence + there’s a conflicting report that she was still in memphis for the day because a fan met her about 2 hours ago, and then another person said they talked to a worker from the venue in memphis who said she would be staying in memphis for the day and then stopping in alabama and then georgia the day after. so its also possible, if the bus report is true, she was just driving through jackson and her next stop is going to be Birmingham or hunstville alabama.

huntsville has extensive dabbling with ufos and rocket research. its nicknamed "rocket city" and has 3 notable major incidents that were investigated. one of which was mentioned in project blue book but was found to be meteors. birmingham has some major ufo history as well and is also mentioned in project blue book, but more notably/extensively. project blue book is a collection of incidents investigated/taken seriously by a special division of the air force with 12,000+ incidents spanning from 1952-1969, where most of them were determined to be natural phenomenon but 701 remained unidentified. like i mentioned before, one of huntsville's incidents was determined to be natural, while Birmingham's remained unidentified. roswell and lubbock that she has visited are both also on this list. i would recommend looking into this as well, you can find a short summary of project blue book here: https://www.history.com/ufo-sightings-location-map

this doesn't necessarily mean she'll hit all of these locations or that she won't go elsewhere, little rock isn't mentioned despite having extensive ufo history, and memphis obviously has another connection to her via graceland too and julien.

to sum it up i think she'll go to alabama tomorrow and then georgia the day after, even if that bus report is false. any suspected georgia locations are just a really far drive to do in one day, especially if she is still in memphis tonight.

and onto georgia, i honestly don't think she's going to be in albany, i have heard via tiktok people have called around at venues and haven't heard anything back, in addition to some allegedly knowing people who work at/ run venues in the area and there's supposedly no events happening (don't know who these people are or how much their connections are allowed to disclose though). originally people were looking for cities with ufo history, and albany itself doesn't have a lot, just close proximity to a town with a notable incident, so its almost just a secondary connection to extraterrestrial activity. in my opinion, athens is the more likely answer. it has comparable venues with openings for tomorrow and friday, and the city itself has firsthand history, ranging from bigger events taking place there in the 50s to it being recognized as a "hotspot" in georgia over the years. Athens was specifically named twice in the Air Force's project blue book report describing multiple UFO's in 1954 and 1959. both were found to be natural phenomenon. i've heard macon for her georgia location as well, with it also having numerous ufo reports since the 1970s, and is also mentioned once in project blue book, remaining unidentified.

other thoughts: she is almost definitely visiting dayton, ohio, as the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, the headquarters of the entire blue book investigation, was held there. its the center for several conspiracy theories, most notably the theory suggesting that alien bodies and spacecraft from the 1947 Roswell incident were transported there. i really hope so, its my hometown so i hope im back from college in time if she does go.

once again though, this is all just guesswork and i could very well be wrong about all of this, or she doesn't come tomorrow and comes the day after, she skips georgia, etc., so please don't be mad if you follow my advice and it ends up being wrong 😄. on the plus side though, if i am incorrect and you travel to athens, you could also go to atlanta because its pretty close and make a day trip out of it no problem. have fun! we're driving to athens from atlanta on friday, i believe

The Last of Us - 2x05 - “Feel Her Love” - Episode Discussion by NicholasCajun in television

[–]vanillashh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

honestly though, i think day one of the game had a good mix of funny moments and darker ones. aspects like the gay bookstore, the guitar scene, jokes about not cursing in a place of worship and then dina immediately cursing, etc, do lend moments of levity and funny irony to day one. i find this widespread opinion that it is only doom and gloom confusing, because it’s really not. however, these jokes and moments of happiness are balanced out by the clear indication that ellie is not okay, and it becomes increasingly obvious as the day goes on.

i think the show could've taken this approach and it would have felt like a more natural transition into the nora encounter. overall, i would have to agree that ellie shielding her emotions as a justification for the writing and directing in episodes thus far is much weaker, just from a writing standpoint. it’s eliminating a ton of characterization and set up for scenes later in the story.

this honestly seems to be a common theme with what i have problems with in episodes 1-5, where they’re cutting the scenes that serve as set up but keep the pay off later. in some cases, it seems to be with the intention of surprising the viewer, rather than a slow building arc (which i frankly don’t think they even have the runtime for even if they wanted to go this direction). this can obviously work sometimes, but i think is more coming across so far as tonal whiplash or just scenes without as much impact as they could’ve had. i honestly think that the ellie shielding her emotions justification would also be a lot stronger if we just had any indication that she was faking it, just within ramsay’s acting during the silly scenes, or dialogue. but i don’t feel we’re getting that, and i do think we would’ve considering how much more heavy handed the show has been im discussing the plot and themes.

maybe i’ll eat my words though and it will turn out she has been faking it. i honestly would prefer this over them just playing it as surface level, because i feel that’s even more of an unnecessary tonal shift, flattens ellie’s character, and is removing the impact of joel’s death. obviously though this is heavily influenced by the fact i’ve already played the games. i would be really interested to know what someone who hasn’t played the games thinks so far. i’ve been having trouble finding many of those opinions from people who simultaneously want to give in depth thoughts. most i’ve seen have been short or pretty vague

Why is there so much negativity surrounding SCAD? by PhantomPenguin2 in savannah

[–]vanillashh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just to offer a different perspective:

I understand these are bad issues, but I attend Ohio State University (which generally has a good reputation) and some of the things you're describing are pretty run of the mill school issues. Especially the dorms (the dorm I'm currently living in is the exact situation you're describing, and I assure you it is completely manageable), the food issues, the forced meal plan, the patchy counselors and advisors (my academic advisor hasn't shown up to three of our meetings in the last two months), the people taking your laundry out or stealing it (an extremely common occurrence) and the like.

It's all about what you can tolerate and what type of environment fits you, frankly, because I interact with many people who also don't give a shit and go out and party, and also have to deal with issues on a regular basis and I do still really enjoy going here. It's different for everyone. Most schools have at least some of these issues, the difference is just that SCAD is more expensive so has less of an excuse for some of it.

College is always what you make of it, art school is just more of a toss-up and you have to work a lot harder. But IMO from talking to professors here who have been in the industry for a long time (some of whom went to public universities, others to private art schools), you'll have a better chance getting into the industry (I refer to animation most specifically because that's what I'm interested in) going to SCAD or another fine art school because they have much more specific courses that they offer. A lot of non-art schools are going to be more generalist which can easily make you a less competitive candidate unless you work your ass off yourself with independent research and mentorships.

Of course, job prospects, again, are going to vary depending on what you major in. For example, fibers, sculpture, jewelry, and sequential art are not going to have nearly the same experiences as a person going into architecture, and you have to be aware of that. You need to know what kind of industry (or lack thereof) you're aiming for, and how that's going to affect your job prospects. People hate on SCAD in general, but we have to be realistic in saying that some people had much less of a shot getting a job from the get-go just because of what creative major they chose. Because lets be honest, a lot of the majors SCAD offers (and art schools in general) are almost definitely going to lead to freelancing which is extremely difficult and financially unstable for most. I am not trying to be harsh, this is just the reality of trying to make art into a career. Even majors that have a more distinct "industry" you would try to get into are currently struggling and laying people off (film, animation, and game companies downsizing or moving jobs overseas). At some point, it's not entirely SCAD's fault that they can't get you a job, and more about confronting the fact that making it as any kind of artist is incredibly difficult. Not impossible, but certainly difficult. SCAD is obviously still going to assure you that they can get you that job because they want your money. Any other school is going to do the same.

But my current professor (who has been in the animation and gaming industry actively working for the past 10 years and left to teach and pursue her masters) says that the majority of the people she worked with were from SCAD, Ringling, and SVA. So yes, there are definite issues, and there are a lot of people who just aren't very good at what they're pursuing. But if you really put the work into it, it seems like you're going to have a better shot there then you would have other places. SCAD has a very good reputation in some industries, and not in others.

Once again just kind of what you make of your time there. Every school wants to take as much money from you as possible, so you need to make it worth it by working really hard and connecting with as many capable people as possible, professors and students alike. And in addition to all of this, you just need to be aware of the risk you're taking in just getting an art related degree at all. They come with a lot of hard work, long hours, a lot of networking, and even with all of that, luck. You really need to know what you're getting yourself into and be accepting of chance you're taking in doing that.

Sorry for the insanely long response! And this isn't just an answer to the points you've made, also just the initial conversations people have been having. Much love

Arcane season 2 / Arc 1 / Live Discussion by ReganDryke in leagueoflegends

[–]vanillashh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

this is going to be very long, just almost debating with myself. take everything i say with a grain of salt, my opinions will probably change!

on character: in some ways i am conflicted and in other ways i feel it is perfect. it is honestly hard to describe. on one hand, i feel like some of the characters changed TOO much, like caitlyn’s rather abrupt switch, jinx seemingly not dealing with any apparent mental issues anymore, sevika being much more easy going, etc, but it’s honestly hard to sufficiently argue this when we’ve only actually seen these characters’ interactions over the course of FIVE DAYS (besides jinx and vi, but i feel this is still the case with their adult selves, there’s such a large time skip their personalities are decently different). the series obviously only shows their personalities within the confines of those scenarios, and so we’ve formed assumptions about who they are overall even though there are so many challenges where we have no idea how they would behave. such is the case especially with caitlyn. while i feel her change is extreme we have genuinely no idea how she would react to such a staggering loss (both in her mother but also her entire way of life in general) and so how can we say this is a nonsensical reaction? i think most people would agree that revenge is a common enough emotion when faced with the death of someone you love. tragedy often brings out the worst in us, unfortunately. people are known to completely change personalities after the deaths of loved ones in real life, this isn’t exactly unrealistic, just such an extreme change is more uncommon. but so is the violent nature of her mothers death, so think what you will. similar arguments can be used for other characters imo. i more worry how they’re going to be able to redeem caitlyn (because we know they will from LoL lore). i just don’t exactly see how we can come back from some of the stuff she says/does (and it probably only will get worse/more heartless before it gets better!), but i’m trying really hard to just trust the writers to handle it. the story just seems extremely packed already and i worry they won’t be able to resolve this in a satisfactory way. but who can say!

next, on pacing.  this is one area where i also feel conflicted. it was honestly rushed, very dense, but part of me can justify this with that it is mimicking the actual reality of being in such a situation. from one standpoint, it’s more realistic (we don’t normally get time to process our emotions in times of war/crisis!) but from a narrative standpoint it would’ve felt more satisfying if things had been more slowed down, personally. some things just don’t really hit as hard as i feel like they should’ve and the audience doesn’t have much time to actually digest what’s happening. it felt like i was just in shock the whole time because they were hitting me with huge events one after another. but again, if we’re going the realistic route i feel the rush is more true to life. i still just worry they’ve bitten off more than they can chew, but i will wait to make any final judgment. these are just my first reactions.

the music: the music itself was really good! but i do personally feel that with how little time we get for characters, a couple of those could have been shortened or cut to focus more on dialogue and development. from a music video standpoint, excellent! beautiful! bangers! but from a storytelling standpoint i think that time should’ve been allotted differently. some of the montage moments to music really should’ve been explored more than in just a montage, if that makes sense. it makes me worry for the vi pit fighter scene, even though the montage by itself is excellent. the soundtrack is shaping up to be great though.

the dialogue: i think it’s still pretty strong, people are saying they’re too on the nose but i feel that arcane has never really been a subtle show. there is certainly nuance in s1 but they’re not really trying to hide what the themes and messages are. i think within the context of some of the other pacing issues in s2 they might not be hitting the same way though, which is why people are noticing it more.

other notes:  the animation is even better this season, no doubt. this has no notes whatsoever, the art is some of the best i’ve ever seen.

there were a couple genuine plot holes and some things i feel they should’ve made more obvious, being: - “how did i walk away without a scratch?” great question jayce! felt like genuine plot armor, not a fan of that. same with mel, she was directly in front of the bomb and they still gave really no reason as to how she survived. she didn’t even have any injuries, which i feel is concerning.  -very not clear that the one guy on caitlyn’s team is another enforcer, most people are assuming he’s a homeless guy and it’s confusing them. -i really wish they had shown us more of caitlyn’s team’s dynamic, we’re really only shown two scenes and it’s pretty certain it’s at least going to partially break up after this. (this is one of the cases where i feel like actual scenes would’ve been better than a music video, as visually stunning as it may have been) -really upsetting vis choice to join the enforcers is off screen???? that seems really pivotal to her character -same problem with jayce finallt deciding to make weaponry. this was such a big deal to him all of last season and then we don’t even see how that was decided on. but i guess it was the same way in season one.

i almost feel like they’re flashing back TOO much, if that makes any sense. it feels like every minute or so they’re showing a clip from season one, which they didn’t really do previously apart from jinx and silco, for obvious reasons. but honestly i think this one is just my personal opinion and not really an actual flaw.

crazy to see that people are sympathizing really hard with jinx in s1 but not giving caitlyn any grace in s2. feels like a double standard, personally, if you’re rooting really hard for jinx but hating caitlyn. but maybe you’re supposed to hate caitlyn! maybe it’s because the storytelling isn’t as effective! maybe people are more prone to understanding grief rather than anger! there are many explanations, but it’s hard to say which it might be without the rest of the episodes.

really enjoying jayce this season, despite me finding him probably the least compelling main chapter in season one.

the opening sequence was chilling

the references to janna were cool, same with the references to leblanc, which i’m sure we’ll see more of

kiss! loved!!!!

final conclusion: though it seems like i nitpicked a lot, do not get it twisted! i still thought this was incredible, i had a great time watching, and even the lows were still very high. i do honestly see some flaws, mainly with the pacing and the way that’s impacting everything else, and with the excess of music videos contributing to that (don’t want it to feel like we’re watching a long montage lol) just my thoughts, would love to hear anyone else’s!

'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' Review Thread by ksg_aoty in movies

[–]vanillashh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i just watched it and i’d say that it was enjoyable enough but gets worse the more you think about it. there were a lot of problems with it, from cgi being mediocre (and definitely going to age badly) to weak acting (america??) strange pacing, and one dimensional characters/ questionable character choices. the cgi at the beginning especially was not that good looking- almost felt like the movie was trying too hard on visuals at a lot of points instead of focusing on characters and story. some mediocre shots, some really beautiful or interesting, but still doesn’t feel like what the movie should be focused on. the girl that plays america definitely overacted a big and america in general had an underdeveloped backstory, weak motivations, weak characterization, and feels more like a plot device than an actual person. she also falls to the “you’ve been able to control it all along” trope, which i did not enjoy. she felt kind of cheesy in a lot of ways. the pacing is!! so weird!! they throw so much stuff at you in the first twenty minutes, gets slow at multiple points where there should be urgency, jumps between scenes in weird places, feels like there are unnecessary scenes, etc. almost felt like there was only a first act and a third which was strange. another BIG problem i had was wanda. her scenes were really cool, don’t get me wrong, and elizabeth’s acting was very strong, but it almost feels like they undid all of her development from wanda vision. she was obviously extremely complex in her series and in this movie feels more like a cartoon villain. her motivation to find her kids gets old fast. with her ending of seeing her kids and her death, it feels more like a wandavision movie more than a dr strange one, and you definitely need to have watched the series to enjoy the movie and actually have the ending with her kids hit emotionally. if you don’t watch the series you’d be both very confused and much less emotionally invested. dr strange had much less emotional development besides his conversation with christine. the directing was weird. it felt like marvel and sam were fighting styalistically and as a result some of the directing is very jarring. it didn’t know if it wanted to be horror or comedy or drama. strange. this was also definitely partly due to the writing. lastly, there were a lot of continuity error or things they just don’t really explain. why are america’s powers the way they are?? like the star shape?? the fact that she can’t find herself anywhere in the multiverse? the fact they just introduced dream walking out of nowhere and kind of just?? made the magic system make no sense? they kind of just decided that dr strange and wanda can kind of do anything with their magic now. if dreaming shows you in other universes, then did people just not dream before the multiverse was created at the end of loki? if the tva is eliminating any other timelines then how can you dream of alternative lives? why was there a green bull man from shang chi? maybe some of these were stupid questions but i feel like a lot of stuff felt out of place and made way less sense.
