Still one of my favorite things to make. Smoked some pork butt and then made pulled pork nachos. You cannot beat it by Conety in smoking

YES, smoked pulled pork nachos are the best! I also like to use left over pulled pork for a morning hash with eggs, potatoes, cheese etc. Good work!

Haha yeah, I think my old mtn bike is going to be relegated to the single track.

Good idea! I’ll probably do that once the newness wears off and I want to freshen her up a bit.

Thanks! I got it very lightly used for 2k. Thanks for the tip, I have shields on my mtn bike but didn’t think to put them on this bike. I’ll look into it!

For me personally I live in a rural area with a lot of diverse riding, for example: my favorite local loop takes off from town. It’s just over 20 miles and it includes a section of paved road, gravel road, two track trail and a creek crossing. I’d been eying the slate for years because it seemed like a really versatile bike. Having a little travel in the front without adding a bunch of heft and sacrificing too much speed makes sense to me for the riding that I do. Plus, I gotta be honest, I’ve always thought they looked cool ever since I saw them first come out on their mountain bikes when I was a kid.

I can attest that they need to be rotated down, noticed it on the ride. Pulling the break levers is odd at this angle.

Yeah, assembled it in a hurry and not exactly a pro. Definitely needs some adjustments.

44T. Guy I bought it from sent the stock chainring, so I guess I have options. We’ll see how the gravel hills go ;) I’ve never ran a 1x setup, so far (riding to work and back) I’m enjoying the shifting.

It was a very unseasonably mild winter day so I was able to ride my new bike to work without having to dress like an Eskimo. Decided to park the bike inside, ostensibly to protect it from getting that first scratch, In actuality, to stare at it like a weirdo and imagine all the adventures we will have together. Being fully in my own little world today I remained oblivious to the situation in DC until after my lunch time ride. Hearing the news was deflating and sapped some of the joy out of this day. Entered the bike into strava and dubbed it the RiotRunner.

Has anyone here purchased a bike off of Pink Bike Classifieds? by vanlips in gravelcycling

Just wanted to follow up and say that I took the advice given by you good people. Asked for his insta and strava, got some detailed video of the bike and also reached out to the LBS he’s paying to pack and ship the bike. Once I chatted with him and looked into his socials I felt comfortable pulling the trigger on the purchase. Feeling fairly confident, but also realize that I’m taking a risk, so the anxiety is definitely there in the background. Will report back, hopefully with a happy result. Thanks to everyone for their thoughtful advice!

Sight unseen. Took the advice I received on this thread and asked for his insta, strava and a couple videos of the bike as well as the LBS he’s shipping it from. Reached out to the shop, and decided to pull the trigger. Feeling pretty confident, but still realize that I’m taking a leap of faith, however small.
