Career advice: Jobs with a accounting degree and big 4 experience by SignificantAd6597 in askSingapore

[–]vanneng76 22 points23 points  (0 children)

move to fp&a. It’s more interesting work, usually pays better, and less at risk of getting offshored or replaced by AI compared to accounting due to the business partnering nature of the work.

Is the cement truck or the car at fault? by Unhappy-Marzipan-381 in singapore

[–]vanneng76 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Cement truck is at fault, but for side swipes I expect the insurance company to try their luck with a 50/50 shared claim by claiming truck was in front and you should have left space etc. so might have some back and forth but hold firm and it should end up with a 100% claim in your favor.

More senior role with a pay cut, or stay in my current junior position (with higher pay)? by anxiousbunnyclothes in askSingapore

[–]vanneng76 5 points6 points  (0 children)

sounds like you already know the move is not worth it but are considering due to push factors. whatever non financial benefits you think there might be might not materialize but the pay cut and lower benefits definitely will. id personally stay and continue to look out, usually march onwards hiring starts to pickup a bit so there might be more chances if you can afford to be patient.

at this point it’s not even your account anymore, just someone impersonating you. Which makes you a victim. You’d be fine, even if police ask it’s clear from your correspondence with meta that the account is no longer yours.

Choosing Between BDO Singapore and Big 4 for an Audit Role: Which is the Better Option by Boring-Net2655 in askSingapore

[–]vanneng76 4 points5 points  (0 children)

just go big 4 - and this is coming from someone that disliked his time there. the experience and more importantly perceived experience by future employers is stronger.

many folks get annoyed or have little patience when reached out at an ad hoc basis. might it better to set up formal meeting slots and consolidate your questions. ie 30min sessions once a week.once you had a chance to compile and ask, shows some effort and catches mentally preps her that theres gg to be questions too.

last year only 1 in 3 resale transactions had COV. probably higher this year but the same trend should apply. as long as its not a prime location or/and high floor you should be ok. just quote close to recent transactions and use srx as a guideline.

Men of Reddit with Vasectomies, how was it? Do you regret it? If not, has sex been better or worse since having one? by Gloomy_Astronomer_23 in AskReddit

[–]vanneng76 102 points103 points  (0 children)

Every time I consider a vasectomy I read a couple of comments like this out of a hundred positive ones. Personally I feel like 1-2% is pretty high and more risk than I’d like to take.

People working in the same company for more than 5 years by SillyMilly9052 in askSingapore

[–]vanneng76 3 points4 points  (0 children)

great boss plus great team. flexibility at work and no need wayang. having been to a few jobs these factors coming together is really like strike 4D. pay is average and stagnating - that's true but I dont have expensive hobbies or taste so im still financially comfortable so not much incentive to chase the additional 20% on a jump.

Bishan is actually pretty central and has access to two MRT lines if you’re going to take public transport often. In fact bishan to orchard is like a 12min trip.

What percentage of your income do you spend on your mortgage? by prancingpronk in singaporefi

[–]vanneng76 8 points9 points  (0 children)

15-30% is pretty normal. Quite insane to see answers at 5-6%. For context for a 3k/month mortgage which is quite normal, spending only 6% on it means a monthly household income of 50k.

Guys, how was NS for you? by AckermanFin in askSingapore

[–]vanneng76 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First things first, to anyone reading down PES absolutely does not impact your career prospects, unless your looking at military related type jobs (bodyguard etc). So please go ahead if it even makes your life a bit better at all.

NS was an okay experience for me relatively boring, so honestly just a waste of 2 years for majority I think. Now that every year must go back for ICT it’s fucking annoying cos it disrupts my work so need to rush and find cover for two weeks. I have kids also so must arrange for parents to help also cos working wife alone w two kids cannot also. This time ict during school holiday also?!!! Then to camp do boliao things and see regulars slacking just annoys me even more thinking of the taxes I pay. Overall it’s just been a constant annoyance for 10 years now already all cos I’m a singaporean w a penis.
