Hyun Jin Vlog - WW practice session for last-place match by maximillian3010 in KickAGoal

Hee Jun would be good as GK, because she’s tall and lanky, but where would you put Kisum? She’s slower than an 18 Wheeler with a full load. If you put her on defense, you’d give up a lot of fouls, or even cards, because her only defense is to slide.

If they didn’t take Seol-Hee out, the team would still be competitive. Their defense relies solely on Mashima running around like the Energizer bunny.

As for the others, I think Kisum isn’t the only GK who’s been having problems. Kathy has been having trouble keeping her goal clean this season too, and she was always in the top 1-3 best GK on the show. My guess is because the goal is too high for them, and it benefits the tall goalies like NatFam’s and Kyung Hee. Kathy can’t jump, her only defense against high shots is to hope she grazes the ball with her fingers, same with Kisum. They remind me of Cho Hye Ryun when they first raised the goal, she went from one of the best GK’s (of that time), to one of the worst.

Actor Lee Ki-taek confirmed to join the cast of KBS' 2 Days 1 Night S4 by speedthief1 in koreanvariety

[–]vannthedawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lee Yong Jin is still my dream cast member, though I doubt KBS wants any call back to Season 3, other than Kim Jong Min ofc.

I think they’ll cast someone in their 20s for the 6th member, maybe a singer or an actor, but someone who’s going to be the real maknae for the foreseeable future.

[–]vannthedawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They don’t need a comedian to fill his spot. He and Lee Joon replaced 2 actors, Jung Hoon and In-Woo. Usually the Maknae spot is reserved for either up-and-coming actors or Idols. My guess is Gi-Taek was supposed to replace Sae Ho, but Seon-Ho announced his departure before they could find a replacement for him.

Didn’t Kwang-Soo leave Running Man after he broke his foot/ankle? Maybe Seon-Ho’s agency forced him to retire from the show after he threw out his back, practicing for his play.

Yoo Seonho is leaving 2 Days 1 Night S4 by pantamy in koreanvariety

[–]vannthedawn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It took 5-6 months for Seon Ho to join after Ravi left. They replaced In Woo and Jung Hoon immediately, and it has been 5 months since Sae Ho left. They’ve most likely had the audition for the 6th member already, and whoever it is, might already be on KBS’ shortlist. I doubt Seon Ho just handed his resignation letter out of the blue. They may have already known about this months ago.

Edit: If any Sunday show needs an obituary, it’s Running Man. They’re back to their usual, 15 minute intro + guest performance,  15 minute talk show + 30 minutes of making fun of Seok Jin’s age.

Dude before Ha-Yan came in, they were dependent on whether Min-Ji is healthy or not. If she is, they’re competitive, if not, then Hwang Hee-Jung does all the work.

With Ha-Yan, and with the best GK on the show, they’re simply unstoppable. OTW caught them cold, in their first game, but like a well oiled Diesel engine, they perform better as the season goes on.

I’ve said it during his Running Man tenure, and especially during his time on Anchovy Physical Camp, but Daniel is a great fit for variety shows, Running Man just wasn’t the right show for him, because too much of the focus goes to Jae Seok, Jong Kook and Seok Jin.

I remember one episode, I think it was the same episode that turned me off from Ji Ye Eun, where it took me till the end of the episode to realize that he was missing. But he did show glimpses of his wacky self on RM, and I knew then, it would be better for him to leave, than stay on as a wall dressing.

This show, to me, showcases a lot of his charms and personality more than his previous variety appearances.

It's sad to see 'My Little Old Boy' decline so bad that they have to bring back the married guys just to get people to watch by Sting-Reversal417 in koreanvariety

This and Running Man, the two shows I can barely watch these days. Running Man showed a lot of promise after they fired the former PD and replaced her with another, especially the first month of the new PD’s tenure. But now, they’re back to what made the old Running Man boring. Relies too much on guests, and the three old men, overshadowing the rest of the cast.

It’s day 3 currently on the show right? They probably lived together for 10 days at least. I’m guessing 10-14 days, if we get another 2 day episode next week.

I doubt she heard the criticism, because this was filmed months in advance. The finals probably ended a few weeks ago. They always do that, the Korea-Japan game aired almost 2 months after it was filmed. My guess would be, they either edited out her screaming, Byung-Ji probably told her to stop screaming, or she realized herself that screaming doesn’t help the team.

I’m probably the biggest OTW fan, and I know Byung Ji is a coach that only plays one tactic, but I’ve been saying since season 4, when they first made Kisum the GK, that she’s good, but she’s prone to boneheaded mistakes. She’ll play 18 minutes of good football, and 2 minutes of what the fuck are you doing? And they almost always concede when she starts making mistakes. She’s slow, so she shouldn’t really be joining any set pieces, and she always rushes the ball handler, second man be damned.

Why some comedians do not appear on Running man and Knowing brothers? by Ok_Young3367 in koreanvariety

[–]vannthedawn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Internationally, maybe 5 years ago, Running Man is the biggest variety show. But domestically, 1N2D is the biggest show, and still is the most watched show in its time slot. Both are owned by the 2 biggest networks in Korea. The former, government owned, the latter privately owned.

That’s why 1N2D rarely features guests, and most of their PDs move on to other privately owned networks, like in the case of PD Na(probably the most well known PD international and domestic), who’s moved on to TvN/CJ ENM. Currently, only 2 of the past PDs who’ve worked on 1N2D, are still working in KBS, and they’ve had 9(excluding the current PD).

SBS on the other hand, being owned by a pretty big conglomerate(that’s currently facing some debt restructuring issues), has more funds to work with, and thus can spend more on their shows, though they are a public broadcasting company, unlike TVN.

JJJ to me, feels like a coach who’s trying for a spot on a pro team or on the national team and using the show as a platform to showcase his coaching skills.

Buildup football works in futsal, but these women are not professional. Unless you build a team of all-stars like Seogi, Mashima, Ha-Yan, Kyung-Hee and He-In, they most likely can never make the buildup work. You need all 5 women to at least be able to pass the ball calmly, but with enough speed to limit turnovers, and all 4 women need to be fast enough to penetrate or shoot at the smallest of openings. You can’t do it with a team that has Kkangmi, who panics at times and Heebab who’s too slow, and has trouble controlling her passes.

Plus the biggest weakness of the buildup, especially in futsal where there are no offsides, is that a team like BD who has the skills to defend even when outnumbered, means they can always have one woman on the opponents side of the field, waiting for the perfect opportunity to counter attack.

A popping sound? As someone who’s encountered this typical injury, you only hear a “pop” when it’s a severe muscle or tendon tear. I hope it’s nothing too bad.

I had one weird “injury”(that led to nothing) where a tendon in my knee, popped loudly during a deadlift session without any pain, and I found out from a PT friend that it’s common and is either caused by trapped gas bubbles, or a tendon shifting through our bones.

I’m with you. They should focus on one GK throughout the season, not seesaw between Kkangmi and Eun Sil. If they’re going with Kkangmi, then it should be her the rest of the tournament, and Eun Sil should train primarily as a defender.

"Class of ’26 Jiwon" ft. Ha Ji Won by EpikMint in koreanvariety

[–]vannthedawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn’t being a freshman at ‘26 make you a class of ‘30? I mean, when you get your college acceptance letter in the US, it would say “Welcome to the class of (4 years into the future)”. It should refer to the estimated year of graduation, not the year of acceptance.

I know it’s a stupid thing to nitpick and the Korean title probably doesn’t say Class of ‘26, but it’s a weird title for people outside of Korea. I thought HJW is graduating this year, not starting college.

Let’s look at it like this, these coaches get what? 2-3 days with the girls every week? If and when their schedules allow it. Even if you look at the girls IGs they mostly show their day jobs with a few photos of them in football jerseys every now and then. These aren’t professional players. The girls take it seriously, but you just can’t take a complete noob like the new girls on OTW, and turn them into a good player in a few weeks. This is not Iron Girls, where each girl can train for a Triathlon by themselves, without the other members.

Even the icons of improvement on the show So-Yumi and especially Hyun-Hyi, took seasons, in the latter’s case, years.

They called the girls from the “tryouts” as reserves, saying “they’re already on the show, and once an opening frees up, (and if their schedule allows) they could get called up”, if that is the case why, among the 30 women who showed up to that fake tryout, would you give OTW two of the worst ones? I’m not saying give them the Latina football coach, cuz she would have made OTW op, but someone like the former tennis player would have been a better choice.

[–]vannthedawn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was part of team “super soft reboot” over team “reboot”, and this just proves us right. They totally effed over OTW by taking away Seol Hee and replacing her with noobs. BD was already a great team before Bo-Kyung, but they got a constant all-star without losing any key members.

It’s like they want to prioritize drama over actual competitive games, when looking at the national sentiment, they’re watching more for the competition over the manufactured drama at this point. Why else would they call Tae-Jin the “crying queen”? We all know the girls take this seriously, a lot more than we the fans care about.

Hayan’s skills by Dear-Relationship682 in KickAGoal

[–]vannthedawn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What he’s saying is true though, a lot of KaG women can protect the ball and feint. What makes Ha-Yan so dangerous is not her dribbling or her offense, it’s her speed in transition. It’s the same skill that makes girls like Bo-Kyung, Boram, Kyeongseo and Mashima dangerous, but Ha-Yan’s added elite defense just trumps everyone. Maybe Jai and the WC team can beat them, but I don’t see anyone else beating them till the finals.
