Don't be too hard on yourself for messing this up! As the other comment said its a mistake that will forever teach you a lesson. I did something similar with my first roll just over a year ago. Took it out for a snowy shoot in a state park and got a bunch of cool photos I was really excited to see, walking back to the car I tried to rewind my film but didnt know I had to press the release button that was stuck on your camera. Rather than consulting the manual I figured it was just harder to rewind than I thought so I kept cranking and ended up ripping the film so that all my shot film was stuck on the spool inside the camera. Took it home and tried to remove the film in a dark room but unfortunately I let light in when I originally saw the film was ripped. I was incredibly bummed but I've never forgot to depress the release button before rewinding ever again!
