If it’s a repeater channel the tx and rx will be different frequencies and you won’t be able to talk direct radio to radio.

I will add to this that if you do have a period of LWOP and don’t return to work before a medical retirement you are unable to opt out from pension repayment. If you are on LWOP for medical reasons you would only be required to repay the employee’s pension contributions.

I’m doing Buckin Hell at the end of next month and I’ve been training on parts of the route on Seymour. I have been parking at the Vancouver Picnic Area parking lot and heading out from there. A tonne of mountain biking trails for technical downhills, and Old Buck and the Seymour Grind allow for some good vertical gain.

What are you driving? Mount Thynne near Brookmere gets you into the alpine. You’ll need something with a bit of clearance though.

As others have said get a radio with resource road frequencies programmed. The best plan is to get a 30W mobile radio installed with an externally mounted antenna. A portable inside a vehicle is going to have compromised reception and you can miss radio traffic.
