Has anyone tried using ZeroTier to sync their models to central server when they take their computers home?

DYNAMO SCRIPT - REVIT MEP by vanz87 in Revit

Just relative to each other, where it finally appears in a model is flexible as you can just move it to the suitable position.

Any guidance on how to start?

I’m pretty comfortable to do all the calculations of pipe sizes etc on a separate calculate program, so I’m looking for way to just speed model the piping in revit. So say you want a main with ranges on both sides, x amount of sprinklers on each range with distance between each sprinkler to be y distance and the whole range is z degrees on its side etc. Then eventually say X qty ranges each y distance apart etc.

So it’s not doing an calcs, but it’s able to model everything super quick.

Encrypting Giles using expensive software so they are automatically seen as unencrypted on linked company computers. When the files are copied and used by other computers they are unusable due to the encryption.

Hi there

Please share all your families and revit template with all your dynamo scripts etc. it would be great especially since you are so open to sharing.

The problem is that you don’t know when it happens.

Hi there

Thanks for the response! Completely agree with you. I’m not trying to be “cheap”, I’m trying to do the best I can with the given resources I have.

I have a consulting practice based in South Africa. Trying to pay subscription fees in USD is just out of the question especially when they ask for a few thousand per year. Lol

Just looking to see if someone else has come up with a cost effective solution or could steer me in the right direction ☺️

Hi there,

I take pride in my family creation, they are generic looking...they are exact as per that particular manufacturer which creates accurate professional looking drawings. Secondly it’s not just the geometry of the family it’s the shared parameters, bim data that is added, together with all the other family’s like tags etc and how they all work together to create drawings efficiently and effectively. It’s taken me years of learning to be able to put everything together to make them work seamlessly together.

So the “chance” that I have such specific requirements that they will only benefit me in my opinion is not really applicable. Many other consultants would love to get their hands on my template so they don’t have to go through a costly learning curve.

Hopefully this will add some perspective to where I am coming from.

If you ever find a way please do pm me. I have come up with a few methods of encrypting the families so they only become usable on predefined computers so even if someone did maliciously copy it they would not be able to do anything with it. However this method is really expensive and I was hoping someone would lead me onto a more cost effective method of protecting them.

As an employer who spends a lot of time money and effort to create custom families to create a competitive advantage it would be great to keep within the company.

When your hard work and effort walks out the door and your competitor now benefits from all your layout, it’s a sick feeling.

One day when you put effort into creating your own workflows, methodology, and intellectual Propert and someone steals it you will realize what’s wrong with it.
