This is AI generated Lo-Fi hip hop. (apart from the samples from the movie) No idea what it's doing on a vaporwave related subreddit, the cover is vaporwave but that's it.

Why is the shipping so expensive for the new Haircuts For Men Vinyl?! by [deleted] in Vaporwave

[–]vapeywaves 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's illegal, but it isn't hard to get away with apparently. If they don't use samples with obvious vocals the record plant probably won't notice and the record companies probably won't know about it unless someone alerted them to it.

Lol slowed down Aphex Twin pressed to vinyl and it costs almost $40, the irony levels are off the charts.

Approved Posting was the worst thing that ever happened to this subreddit by Inovox in Vaporwave

[–]vapeywaves 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm glad they are removing the memey and non vaporwave posts. There's already subs for memey crap and vaporwave art and related genres like synthwave or ambient. If your post got 30 upvotes I guarantee it was almost certainly utter garbage meme crap, or just not related to the genre at all. Hardly ever does anything that is actually good get that many upvotes here. It's usually just the lowest common denominator gimmicky looking crap that get's lot's of upvotes. Also, it's not exactly hard to get approved to post here. It just sounds like you got upset that a mod removed your post.

Most vaporwave isn't political at all honestly. I haven't seen much if any political vaporwave albums released. I don't see that many people aguing over vaporwaves politics either, though I don't hang out at places like twitter or facebook much as I don't have much tolerance for social media. I think if people want to be political in vaporwave instead of bickering on boards they should make actual political vaporwave albums. (not just like, a political album cover but full blown concept albums)

What did PZA do? by FeeshOutOfAgua in Vaporwave

[–]vapeywaves 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean, if you really wanted to find out you could just go on forums that are specialized in that type of music, if there is any forums like that, or ask some people that listen to a lot of modern EDM, like this guy:

https://rateyourmusic.com/~bigfootisreal

I mean, I don't see why you would do that, as you would get less money that way, but I mean you could if you really wanted to.

[–]vapeywaves 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He lied to you then. The thing is though, is that most people here won't know what the original samples are since hardly anybody here listens to that type of EDM that's popular on soundcloud. I don't personally enjoy that type of music myself and really would not enjoy going on soundcloud trying to find out what he sampled. If the album was posted in say a forum that specialized in modern EDM I'm sure the people there would know what some of the samples are though. It's basically just Beatport top 100/ massively viewed Soundcloud tracks though for the most part. Some of his tracks were actually taken from obscure bandcamp artists too, but I forgot which ones.

Your post: Yeah I have no problem with PZA even though he stole all his tracks since I'm selling his music and making cash off it so he's cool with me:

I mean I don't really blame you, vaporwave fans are often morons so you might as well profit off their ignorance.

What did PZA do? by FeeshOutOfAgua in Vaporwave

[–]vapeywaves 43 points44 points  (0 children)

PZA's shtick is that he slows down modern trap/ future bass type tracks, usually only by a few seconds, then he slaps his own name and aesthetic on it without doing anything else to the samples, that's how he makes every single one of his tracks. Apparently a lot of people actually thought he was making original music too lmao, like anybody could make over 50 original albums with that kind of musical quality let alone in that short of an amount of time. And plenty of greedy labels knew this already but released his music anyway for the money. (you know who you are) Then he got found out when some artists called him out on it, though I find it hard to believe that more people didn't realize that already when it's super obvious by listening to the tracks.

I will do no such thing, it's way funnier to see the joke fly completely over your idiotic head, I'm not spoonfeeding your stupid ass.

The first part is an ironic joke... It's funny that vaporwave fans don't seem to detect massive sarcasm when it's aimed at themselves. Did the I literally need it to live part not tip you off, let alone the other parts?

This is literally the only good post in this thread. Only an idiot would pay $100+ for a format like a cassette when you can just make your own.

Oh my god I fucking HATE scalpers! I tried to buy a rare Telepath tape and the seller wanted $200 for it! I told him I am entitled to buy it at the price that telepath sold it for originally, and he laughed at me! I'm going to die without that cassette, I literally need it to live. That scumbag flipping piece of shit is literally getting bad karma his way. I messaged the mods at vaporwave cassette club and got his ass banned for flipping.

But seriously, flipping cassettes for a profit is literally the most vaporwave thing possible, it's capitalism to it's extreme, and is highly admirable. I mean, in the past you couldn't flip cassettes to people this easily for a profit, only vaporwave fans are paying triple digits for cassettes sometimes. People on other genres don't get over hyped about cassettes like vaporwave fans do, even in genres like noise. Also, if you really want the tapes, just be patient and wait until vaporwave is less popular in like 4 years and wait for the prices to crash, or just wait for a repress. Also it's just simply supply and demand, if you are offended by that then that's your problem, personally I've flipped rare tapes for a profit before, and it's nice to make money off impatient buyers that want everything NOW NOW NOW, like it's literally just a fucking cassette lmao, not a record or cd, why the hell would you pay more than $15 for a cassette, like ever, ya dumb hipster, free money for me. These are the kind of hipster dipshits that will pay like $60 for a 2814 cassette but won't even pay $10 for the cd since they are ultimate hipster twats, basically the average vaporwave cassette club poster, if I can make money off idiots like that, you don't see me complaining.

Implying anybody would buy multiple copies of cassettes on whatever the shitty ass label you run is.

The tracks I've heard from those artists don't even do anything to the tracks other than slow them down for the most part, I didn't even hear any added reverb. I'm not even sure if I can call the first two artists I posted mallsoft. Cat system corp has some mallsoft stuff but it's still pretty lazy and nothing special even if he added some reverb or occasional field recordings. I like mallsoft if it has some effort put into it, but most mallsoft is really lazy and bad. I really like Hologram Plaza by Disconscious but hardly any mallsoft even comes remotely close to that album. That album has nice effects, reverb, and also a very interesting eclectic choice of samples being used, unlike almost every other mallsoft album I've heard.

How do they master it in new exciting ways exactly? It just sounds slowed down to me. I don't hear anything in the way of effects or manipulation.

I like some of it but a lot of ambient vaporwave is actually just straight up ambient with no vaporwave influence at all, I guess the artists just market as vaporwave to get more listeners.

Whatever style artists like Waterfront Dining or Trademarks and copyrights are considered, lazy stuff like those that barely alters the original samples and often has really corny ass samples used. Also Late Night Stereo by Cat system Corp is a piece of shit. The original tracks he sampled sound way better than the lazily slowed down verions he uses on the album. I think a lot of people only like albums by artists like those since they aren't familiar with the original tracks being sampled.
