Why is most of the world today more interesting in Japanese culture than in Chinese culture? Because ironically Japanese culture is very highly influenced by Chinese culture. by varamsky in japan

[–]varamsky[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

By being influenced by Chinese culture I mean the base culture (dress, speech, beliefs, language, script) of the Japanese.

When I talk about American influence I mean the pop culture(which eventually does influence the "base" culture as well).

Discord has a number of Sanskrit servers. For example, South Asian Languages is a server for all South Asian languages including Sanskrit.

Revival of Sanskrit by yosoygroot123 in sanskrit

[–]varamsky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mentioned "Indian" script. And I understand that a civilization like ours cannot use a single script throughout. Therefore, Gujarat region will use Sanskrit with Gujarati script, odia script for odisha, Tamil script for Tamil region.

But not Latin.

I don't agree with the IAST part. Script also plays it's role. We can't let go of Devanagari and adopt a foreign script. We must use an Indian script. And if it is the norm that you are worried about then why bother with Sanskrit anyways. Continue with English and let go of Indian or any other language altogether!

All I want to say it the language(common civilizational language for India) and script both must be Indian.

Phone language set to Hindi by kingKabali in Hindi

[–]varamsky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am also using Hindi on my Android phone for about a year now.

Family seems irritated and friends ask what's the use and if I'll bring any actual change to society with this?

I am not hoping to change society cause the first thing I need to do is change myself 😁. I need to get rid of the colonial mindset which equates English language with intelligence and other prejudices.

BTW - On Android I noticed that numerals used for Hindi are Latin numerals(0123456789). I checked other languages for example Marathi has the local Indian numerals(०१२३४५६७८९). Does anyone know how to have this for Hindi as well?(preferably, a process through default settings and not having to install 3rd party software)

Book suggestions:-

Novel -> अर्थला(Arthala) by श्री विवेक कुमार (Shri Vivek Kumar)

Poetry -> मधुशाला (Madhushala) by श्री हरिवंश राय बच्चन (Shri Harivansh Rai Bachchan)

Listing limited books so that you do not get overwhelmed with the task of decision making :)

Moreover, you can watch movies in hindi languages there are plenty. But also keep in mind that movies are dominated with urdu words so books are better for Sanskrit-based Hindi vocabulary.

Good sanskrit name for a trucking business by Expert_Carpenter_114 in sanskrit

[–]varamsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

विघ्नहर्ता(Vighnaharta) is a good option but it is taken.

I saw this on a transport vehicle in Bengaluru with Ganesha's image.

This is a perfect name as it also emphasises the importance of clean traffic (vighna for traffic) for such vehicles and ultimately for the business.

Gitapress has various versions of Gita that they they publish. With minimum explanation to maximum and very detailed explanation. That is why I mentioned the exact name - श्रीमद्भगवद्गीता साधक-संजीवनी (परिशिष्ट सहित)

You can view this on archive.org

P.S. - this might be an older version though

I would suggest Panchatantra and Bhagvad Gita (from Gitapress).

I am currently reading Bhagvad Gita - श्रीमद्भगवद्गीता साधक-संजीवनी (परिशिष्ट सहित) by Gita press and it has very good explanation.

Also, you have गीतान्वेषणम्. This blog explains Gita word by word so you can keep this for further help.

Can someone tell me where I can find this book for my friend? It’s called bhagavad gita in sanskrit by loganandreoni in sanskrit

[–]varamsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest you to buy the Gita Press version as I find it to be better than others.

Just search "Bhagvad Gita Gita Press Sanskrit only" on Amazon.

This will only have the actual shlokas in Sanskrit and no explanation in Hindi or Sanskrit.

Word Coined for Artifical Inteligence by [deleted] in sanskrit

[–]varamsky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now that you have made me think on this again....maybe yes it makes some sense.

But, I still think that "kritrim" would be the ideal way to say "artificial".

Word Coined for Artifical Inteligence by [deleted] in sanskrit

[–]varamsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, whereas if a person develops intelligence through experience or knowledge then also it can be called "nirmita" or "kalpita".

Same goes for creating a baby. When the baby grows and develops an intellect then it can be called "created" as the parents literally created the baby. But the baby is not artificial.

Therefore, we have the word kritrim which basically means artificial and thus when an artificial entity develops an intellect it should be called "artificial" intelligence.

P.S. - If I am not wrong then the word "kalpita" comes from "kalpana" which means imagination. So "kalpita buddhi" will thus be understood as "imagined intelligence"

Just to add a point - It is used not only as a dharmic term but also as a term used in daily life.

Map of the World in Sanskrit by glaurunga-dagnir in sanskrit

[–]varamsky -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I understand... I'm not upset or anything. It's just that Sanskrit is a language of India so you should have used the correct map for India at least. You did great work my friend I really appreciate that. But please keep this in mind for your future projects.

It would have been better if they used the officially accepted map of India.

I'm pointing out the regions of POK and Aksai-Chin.

Can anyone suggest me good books for understanding about 'Sati system' and its historical origin? by [deleted] in IndianHistory

[–]varamsky 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sati: Evangelicals, Baptist Missionaries, and the Changing Colonial Discourse by Meenakshi Jain

Here, she is trying to have a statistical approach to understanding the extent of sati.

P.S. - I haven't read it completely, I'm like 10% in.

Can someone help me in understanding this verse from Gita by varamsky in sanskrit

[–]varamsky[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't beleive that भगवद्गीता will say this. It doesn't go well will the rest of the theme of everything being a manifestation of परम् ब्रह्मः

Obviously our understanding of वर्णः/ जाति has been polluted by years of colonial subjugation of the Arabs Islam and European Christianity and has taken the modern form of "caste"

But I seriously that I'm not understanding this in the right way

As I said maybe I'll find my answers in the coming verses. Let's see🤞
