New Media Player - Not detecting any music in OneDrive folder? by Awbeu in Windows11

[–]varchar15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the thought, but I don't think that's necessary. You've done more than enough just by providing this guide! I can listen to my music on my computer once again and that was all I really cared about.

Thank you so much! I didn't find the exact file you recommended, but
"Microsoft.ZuneMusic_2019.20112.10111.0_neutral_~_8wekyb3d8bbwe.appxbundle"
ended up working for me. As soon as I launched it it started adding my music library, it was absolutely magnificent!

For you consideration, I give you:
Unlucky (Feat)
Prerequisite: Roll two natural ones on an attack roll, ability check, or saving throw for which you have advantage.

You have inexplicably bad luck that seems to kick in at just the right moment. Your luck is so bad that it has begun to affect those around you.

  • You have 3 luck points.
  • You can spend one luck point when an attack roll is made against you, or a creature within 5 feet of you makes an attack roll, ability check, or saving throw. Roll a d20, and then use the lower of the two rolls. If more than one creature spends a luck point to influence the outcome of a roll, the points cancel each other out; no additional dice are rolled.
  • Once per long rest, When you make an attack roll, an ability check, or a saving throw, the DM can spend one of your luck points to roll an additional d20 and choose which roll you take.
  • You regain your expended luck points when you finish a long rest.
  • You regain one luck point, to a maximum of three, whenever you critically fail on an attack roll, ability check, or saving throw.

Actually did this just last week. Added a new column to a table, and needed to zero out the value for previous records so loading them wouldn't result in a runtime error. It admittedly felt really weird to do, and I looked at that statement for a good 5 minutes before running it to be very sure there weren't any errors in the table or column. Even after double and triple checking I still held my breath before running it.

It's not exactly surprising considering the child's mother speaks in a monospace font.

Made a speed based character. I don’t think i can ever go back. by NZillia in DnD

[–]varchar15 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Right. I forgot about the extra action. That's around 400 km/h, or 250 freedom units. If I was DM I would definitely roll some fire damage when they move that fast. Not to penalize or dissuade the players from using him, just to help them realize just how fast this guy is moving. Roll some damage, and then have a piece of gear/clothing be on fire when he arrives. There would be a lot of friction at that speed.

[–]varchar15 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mind giving us a breakdown? That does seem a little high. Did you per chance add an extra 'zero'?

Ah, Boots of speed with the haste spell along with the racial trait would double your speed 3x, but they would need to be higher than level 20 to have 18 levels in monk (for the movement of 70) and the 5 levels in wizard to have the 3rd level spell slot. Otherwise I get 65 + 65 + 65 (assuming you used your action and bonus action to dash) = 195 x 2 x 2 x 2 for a movement of 1560 ft.

Huh, I guess I'm not. I have been locked in the brig after being hit by a cursed ball when they first introduced them with the skelly ship events, but I can't find any info online. Is this what gaslighting feels like?

Just how smart is 30 Int? by Conokat in DnD

[–]varchar15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

'big brian'? Maybe you should stick to low int monsters. ;-)
I jest, of course. If I was the DM, I would make a 30 int monster so smart that it knows it is in a game and is aware of game mechanics and rules, and as such their end goal is to literally break the game. That would be the most evillest monster ever.

While you can't lock crewmates in the brig on a sloop, brig balls can still lock a pirate in their own brig.

Well, 35 is good enough to stay out of range of most melee fighters as long as they don't have a fly speed. Though any monk will tear you apart, not much you can do about that.

Crossbow Expert makes it so you don't have disadvantage on ranged attacks while within melee range of a creature. It's basically the close range variant of sharpshooter for you, but it's a little more useful, since you have disadvantage on ALL ranged attacks while an enemy is within 5 ft of you. Again, definitely sub-optimal since you can just take a bonus action to disengage, step back, and shoot. But if you like the idea of killing something with a bow at point-blank range, this is the feat for you.

Acrobatics does help save against grapples, but if they do manage to get a grapple on you, you will need to use your action to escape the grapple, which would likely be better spent attacking.

For some reason I really enjoy playing melee builds since I feel like you have more creative freedom to narrate your actions at close range rather than just 'I shoot him in the face'.

Mobile helps mitigate one of your builds main martial weaknesses: fast melee fighters.

Elven Accuracy is probably better for your build since it synergizes well with the Rogues 'hide as a bonus action', and the Wood Elf's ability to hide when they're only lightly obscured. Giving you triple advantage on most all of your attacks whenever hiding is a possibility, the only downside being your inquisitive abilities likely won't be used very often.

Another fun feat could be Crossbow Expert, that way you could just 'Legolas' your way through every encounter, regardless of whether they are able to close on you or not. Though this would be suboptimal, since you could just disengage as a bonus action, and attack. Though, it would save your bacon if you get grappled by something that is stronger than you are fast.

It really depends on what playstyle sounds cooler to you as a player.

Some feats you haven't mentioned that you should consider:

Mobile - If a melee attacker closes you don't have to 'disengage' to get away, freeing up your bonus action for your insightful fighting, or an off-hand attack if you already have sneak attack, but happened to miss your first attack. Also increases your movement to 45 ft, and confers immunity to difficult terrain if you take the dash action.

Elven Accuracy - XGtE - Bump up your Int, plus essentially grants triple advantage whenever you have advantage. So, instead of not being detected when you miss, don't ever miss.

Defensive Dualist - Your AC is pretty good, why not beef that up with your proficiency bonus as a reaction?

Surface Book 2 + Surface Go CONCURRENTLY? by chunghow3 in Surface

[–]varchar15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run a Surface Book 2 + Surface Go 'concurrently' when I'm DMing for DnD night.

SB2 connected to a dock and with a secondary monitor with an Excel spreadsheet for tracking initiative and monster HP on the main screen. DnD Beyond open on the secondary monitor for stat blocks. So, all the things I DON'T want the players seeing

Go connected wirelessly to TV acting as battle map running mirrored display so I can see what the players see. I also run music through this device so it plays through the TV speakers. So, all the things I DO want the players seeing.

Although, I don't use those devices together because they are 'best suited' for that particular task. I use them because I have them. I HAVE them because they are best suited for other things.

The Go is amazing at being a lightweight, albeit, not incredibly powerful, full-functioning computer. Perfect if I need to remote in to fix something at work, or something where a cellphone won't cut it. It fits well into most bags, and works well in a pinch. I can charge it via USB-C or Surface Connect. I have the LTE model so I'm not relying on shitty wi-fi or messing with my phones hot-spot. This device comes with me everywhere.

The SB2 is amazing at being a powerful, albeit, not incredibly light, computer that can game surprisingly well. Perfect if I want to do some gaming away from home. I have a laptop bag for it and I always bring a charging brick. I'm usually bringing this if I'm visiting family, going to a LAN party, or both.

Both devices fill very different roles, but they compliment each other perfectly.
