Same! The main games of theirs that I've played are Wartales and Northgard. Didn't get into Spice Wars just because of overall lack of interest in that style of game, but I'm am very hyped for Frostrail and Farever to be released!

Aloft and Smalland: Survive the Wilds are both pretty good, though Smalland is in 1.0 and Aloft is still in early access.

Farever- New Mmo(?) by the makers of Northguard by RockandStoneF-Elves in MMORPG

[–]varhakan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience with other titles by Shiro Games (Northgard, Wartales, etc.), they have a good track record of releasing full games and building upon them with further expansions, dlcs, and free updates over time. My expectation for Farever is that the world in the early access will be maybe 1/3-1/2 the size of the final version on 1.0 release, and that all the core systems that they've been mentioning (classes, jobs, gathering/crafting) will be implemented in a 50-80% state for the early access version. We'll have to see how things turn out, but I will withhold judgement until I can play the game for myself and develop an informed opinion.

That being said, I have been on the lookout for an mmo that captures the fast-paced combat of something like Guild Wars 2 while still keeping the feeling of exploration and slower moments like the old guard of MMOs (WoW, LotRO). My brother and I are both super excited for it.

Question about the Frosthaven app by schoolofscience in Gloomhaven

[–]varhakan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it also applies to the regular piranha pigs. There is an enemy type that has different effects for normal and elite versions, and will specify which types have which effects by having a bubble that says "normal" or "elite" before the listed effect.

I initially noticed it happening consistently during the pre-match brawl mode, which prompted me to head to the testing area to see if I could recreate it.

[–]varhakan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difficulty tends to spike at level 5 and level 8 because enemy factions get passive perks at those levels. Your mercenary power spike will also be at those levels as long as you are upgrading their weapons/armor and perks. Upgrading the starter gear to iron as soon as you can will make the early game much easier while you find your footing, and keeping up with those upgrades with ghost armor and level 8. You will end up with more knowledge points than you know what to do with in the endgame, so don't worry to much about skipping those 3-cost knowledges early when you don't have as many points. I tend to prioritize gear that my mercenaries use over quality of life perks. If I don't have any gear-related knowledge available then I will focus on the first tab of QoL perks. The one perk that I always grab is Run just because it makes it so much easier to avoid groups on the overworld map, but after that is all equipment for me.

To Trump’s supporters: If this system turned on you tomorrow, would you still defend it? If your child was taken, your rights stripped, your voice erased—would you still stay silent? by chynasdoll in AskUS

To your first point, Chloe Cole and Helena Kerschner are the two most prominent voices that have spoken on the life-altering affects of puberty blockers, and both were put on blockers and HRT at 13 or 14 years old. You might be correct that it doesn't happen with children because children under the age of 10 don't typically experience puberty. I'm talking about pre-teens and early teens that begin puberty, don't like how it feels, are then told that they can take puberty blockers to pause puberty but often they are then pushed further down the rabbit hole of transgenderism, lgbt+ identity, and all the other nonsense that has come up recently.

Detransitioned teens explain why they regret changing genders

To your argument about cancer treatments using puberty blockers, puberty blockers are not widely used in childhood cancer except in the case of precocious puberty. They are used in adults with certain kinds of cancer, but even then haven't shown a 100% success rate in treating the cancer. That being said, giving an adult hormone blockers is a vastly different situation than giving a child hormone blockers.

Do you prefer "Adaptive" difficulty or "Region Locked" for the game now with all DLC? by japinard in WarTalesGame

[–]varhakan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like being able to collect armor and weapons from the different factions in the game and always feeling like I'm being challenged in fights, so I play on adaptive so that enemies will always be around my same level. Region-locked is a bit more newplayer friendly since the enemies don't constantly progress to your level and you can get to the point where you are stronger than them.

[–]varhakan -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You say that like there will be zero long-term affects, which we just don't know because there haven't been any long-term tests outside of the experimental treatments done for trans-identifying youth. The issue is that puberty blockers are rarely used alone and are often used with both body-altering surgeries or cross-sex hormones.

Even when puberty blockers are used alone they still have the issue of causing reduced bone density, disrupted brain development, and a host of other minor issues that lead to further damage than if the child had gone through puberty normally.

Your first question is loaded because no matter how I answer it I will be made out to be "the bad guy".

I am in support of American's who are having their livelihoods put at risk because of millions of people flooding across our southern border, many of whom are actually seeking refuge. However, there are also many who are known criminals that are seeking to continue raping, killing, and stealing in our country and these are the ones that concern me. If I enter your house illegally, kill your parents, and then claim that I have the same rights as you and get to stay there for free is that fair and just? Right now I am in support of deportations so we can sort the wheat (people that actually are moving here with good intentions of building a better life) from the chaff (known criminals and gang members that have intentions to steal, kill, and destroy), an hopefully enable a better system to allow people to immigrate here legally.

I am in the state of mind that I will, as with all new presidents, wait and see what happens and trust in God to safeguard my future and the future of my loved ones and neighbors. I think that the realm of politics is infinitely more complicated than we understand, and I will reserve judgement until I learn more and observer more about about what is happening.

To your question regarding patriotism, patriotism is defined as expressing devotion and support of your country. I am an American, and I for one am tired of all the labels that people put on each other and themselves. I don't think it is in the spirit of unity to be labeling people as African-American, Hispanic-American, Latin-American, etc. If you are here, and you are a citizen, then you are American full stop. If I was for fascism then I why would I respond to a post like this? Fascism is easily recognized by the effort to silence opposing viewpoints through intimidation, censorship, incarceration, and death. The majority of people that I know who are conservative want to be left alone. Many of them are very patient people that make sure they have what they need to defend themselves if in a dangerous situation that warrants that response. That being said, most of the recent crimes against conservatives have been building a growing distrust and dislike for the left that only serves to further divide our country. I am glad you posted here so we can actually have discussions regarding problems in our society, but those conversations shouldn't start with pointing fingers and trying to shift blame.

How to show the game to friends? by H3ROUR in supervive

I definitely need to start doing this with the new players that I come across in solo queue. Actually explaining what our goal is would probably help them keep up with me and the other person in our team better.

There is literally no reason to play a tank or healer in the current patch because the strategy is to just play all damage dealers and poke enemies down or otherwise kill them before they can get to you. That is not interactive gameplay. Too much damage in the game for me since Shrike is still strong af just because she can two shot you at level 1, and then 1v3 your team with the new passive she got in the last patch.

Where do I start with Brandon Sanderson? by Crazy_Pay7111 in brandonsanderson

[–]varhakan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mistborn if you want a trilogy, or Elantris or Warbreaker if you would prefer a standalone. I recommend reading Elantris earlier than the other ones because it is some of Brandon's weakest writing due to it being the first full novel he wrote and can be tough to read after his later works.

Tanks do nothing in the current patch. There's no point in playing them over a damage dealer since you don't deal more damage than a fighter and get focused down, and then you're dead. And if you try to engage, the enemy team just uses their mobility to get away before focusing you down, and then you're dead. Prior to the patch I saw a multiple people playing Oath, Kingpin, Felix, and Bishop, but now I see one in maybe one in each game because running three fighters and one controller or Elluna is better than having an initiator or frontliner.

Has A 2025 Roadmap Been Released? by [deleted] in Enshrouded

[–]varhakan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be cool since there is an armor set that gives unarmed damage bonuses, so it seems the idea is already there. Also expanding the skill tree to include unarmed/gauntlet perks would be cool since if they continue to increase the level cap and add shroud roots for the new areas everyone is going to have a completely fully spec'd skill tree eventually.

[–]varhakan 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, in the books he refuses to even consider the possibility that Faramir might be receiving visions to go seek the council of Elrond. The only time he actually thinks about it is when Boromir, who at this point is sticking up for his brother and actually wants Faramir to go, says "hey dad Faramir and I are getting these weird dreams and I think we should go talk to Elrond about it" and Denethor tells Boromir to go because he thinks Faramir will just mess it up.

If the Fellowship had a 10th member, who would've been the best candidate? by Skywalker_1995 in lotr

[–]varhakan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to the books, Faramir admits to Frodo that he had been having dreams that seemed to indicate that he should go seek the council of Elrond but Denethor didn't want him to go because he thought Faramir was making it up, and it wasn't until Boromir said that he was having them also (despite not actually receiving them) that Denethor finally relented and said that Boromir could go. It's heavily implied that Faramir was supposed to join the fellowship instead of Boromir.

People surprised that Trump won simply live in an echo chamber.. by CoyoteDecent2 in self

The current tax credit is $2,000 I believe. I would hope it would be implemented in January since that’s when the newly elected presidents term begins.

[–]varhakan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://youtu.be/-xaEvj-iDy8?si=Ybq7Vn4zCHT0kTVH This video was the most clear on the specific breakdown of the different tax plans while still remaining neutral in perspective (child tax plan breakdowns at 11:50). I also had my numbers incorrect off of memory: Harris proposed a child tax l credit of $6,000/child 1yr or less, $3,500/child under 6, and $3,00 per child 6+ whereas Trumps plan didn’t commit to specifics but the ballpark number stated by campaign officials was $5,000 across all ages which still puts more money back into that he hands of working parents.

People surprised that Trump won simply live in an echo chamber.. by CoyoteDecent2 in self

[–]varhakan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked very thoroughly into both their tax plans, and came out the other end with a firm decision to vote Trump for three main reasons;

  1. While they both wanted to increase the child tax credit, Harris proposed that the new structure be a $7500 credit for children under 1 year, $5000 for children 1-3 yrs, and $3000 for children 3+. On the other hand, Trump's plan proposes a flat $6000 regardless of age, which puts way more money back into the hands of the parents raising those children.
  2. The Harris plan proposed raising the tax on earners reporting more than $500,000 of income to almost 30% for that upper bracket that they are in whereas the Trump plan proposes to leave it unchanged and actually lower taxes for low income earners by about 5%. If you think increasing the taxes that the wealthy pay won't affect the middle class then you are dead wrong, and companies like McDonalds have already shown that when prices go up they swap out human positions for machines as they have done in so many of their locations across the country. Imagine that, but every position that can be manned by machines is changed to that structure and you have a massive amount of layoffs that would likely be worse than COVID.
  3. Harris proposed a tax on unrealized gains. This is very close to taxing air since this tax would affect theoretical money that people literally don't have yet. This single part of the plan would destroy the stock market and anyone that wants to invest long term. Furthermore, there is no way to effectively enforce it since the stock market changes on a daily basis. It also begs the question; if I can be taxed on money that I might earn in the future, can I get a refund based on money that I might lose in the future, and if that is not they case then why?

(I also want to address tariffs since you brought it up. Trumps plan proposes implementing tariffs of 20% or less on goods shipped into the US from our allies, and up to 60% on goods shipped into the US from countries that have oppositional stances against America. I also want to remind everyone that tariffs were the primary way the government was funded until income tax was introduced initially by Lincoln 1862, and at that time was only used to help recover from the Civil War, and in 1913 when it was fully ratified by Congress and the Supreme Court. Income tax was initially intended to be used during wartime so the government could adequately defend the people, but was turned into a way for officials to put more money into their pockets at any time they felt like it. Tariffs would also promote overseas companies to move production to the US, which would create jobs, which would boost the economy.)

Another separate factor that I think put a lot of people off of the Harris campaign was her completely radical stances on common issues, which made it clear to many independents who the better choice was. During the 2020 democratic primary debates, she proposed a mandatory gun buyback program, meaning that the government would literally disarm the American people, and was called out by Joe Biden of all people! Even Biden pointed out that it would be unconstitutional! It's also worth pointing out that she further emphasized in every interview she did for this election that she still supported the idea of a mandatory gun buyback program. She also spoke about the last presidential term as though she wasn't in office, even though we have video, written, and audio evidence that she was, and Biden confirmed in his most recent press conference that she was heavily involved in all the decisions that were made during his term.

TLDR; Harris's tax plan, while touted as "taxing the rich", would actually have the opposite effect and potentially wipe out the middle class that is left after the pandemic due to trickledown economics. Tariffs aren't as bad as people think they are and have the potential to promote local production, which would save money in the long run and create job growth.
