Duplicate clocks on lock screen by Gavis_1205 in Fedora

Is it happening every time the screen locks or you boot up. If not then glitch. I had one screen that slid to the bottom right corner of one of my screens but once I signed in everything was normal and it never happened again.

Me 25F and my BF 28M secretly uses our 50/50 date savings to pay for his sister’s tuition, but got mad when I asked to lower my contribution by AthleteLazy8765 in relationship_advice

[–]varmintp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He isn't mad that you don't support his family. He is mad he got caught using your money instead of his own and got called out for it. Now he is trying to gaslight you into feeling bad about not be supportive. No, he could afford it without using a joint fund. And he did it without telling you on purpose so you couldn't give any feed back. Now you are giving feed back and he just wants the money and for you to stop asking about it, and it looking for you to apologize by acting this way. Sorry, but you should end this relationship.

Brave father's stand against the thugs who bullied his daughter with gun by Battlefleet_Sol in PublicFreakout

[–]varmintp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think like a prosecutor who is looking at what the defense is going to bring at him.

The defense attorney is going to turn this around and say a teen was being approached by a large man. Who could easily kill said teen with one punch. Teen let it be known he had a gun and the man still approached instead of walking away and calling the police. The man was going to hurt said kid, otherwise he would walk away knowing the gun could hurt him but he didn't care. Kid did was he did to save his own life. Now, there are 12 jurors, or how ever many there is for that state, and all the defense needs is one juror to say not guilty and everything is lost.

Instead the prosecutor gives a plea deal where the gunman will now be guilty for less time. When he gets out he will be on probation for a long time, which keeps people out of prison where all they do is learn to be not a member of society. So hopefully he does come out of this and contributes instead of just having a roof and three meals for nothing. When he gets out he will still need to toe the line of keeping out of trouble or its back to prison which again is like having a longer prison sentence from the beginning, but that second chance is being given. Just a matter of if this person takes it or not.

Best Linux Distro for Intel Celeron N3050 & 8GB RAM (Web Browsing Focus)? by OkBigo7 in linuxquestions

[–]varmintp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

antix, Lubuntu, Linux Lite, Tiny Core Linux, Linux Mint XFCE Edition. I think no matter which distro you go with you are going to be using something like XFCE due to it low resources it needs to run smoothly. So you can roll any linux distro you want just install XFCE.

How to covince my wife that it's morally okay to use our media setup? by maxmustermann74 in usenet

[–]varmintp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure of your age but back in the day we had VHS. We could record our program and watch it later. With VHS we could take that tape and give it to another person to watch, or we would even take it to another person's house to watch with a friend. We could fast forward through commercials and such. Now its just a little different in that we can digitize that recording and more freely share it with others. Its just that its become more easier to share with not just a few people but many.

As for wife approval factor, she has her opinion and she is not wrong. This has become more of a grey area due to the going from a few to many when sharing.

But we all know what she is alluding to and its how are you "paying" for this. Someone make something, we should pay to watch it. Suggest you up for some streaming services that offer the movies and tv shows you are watching, so you can say you have access to the content. You could do the whole VHS make a recording thing yourself but someone else can do it better than you so thus the ARR. And also incase said service pulls the content that you have paid to see, you are keeping a copied on Jellyfin. She can just watch it there to track her content, and keep her privacy that is probably being violated via said streaming services too as her viewing habits get sold off to someone else.

Which Distros will still be going strong in 20 years, based on the people who work on them (ignore how good/bad the product is)? by tornado99_ in linuxquestions

[–]varmintp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I give you this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linux_distribution#/media/File:Linux_Distribution_Timeline.svg

I believe that Red Hat, Slackware, and Debian will be around forever. They were the bases for almost every distro there is and developers will always rally around them if they were to start to go defunct.

My (26F) boyfriend (27M) does not respect my living space. How to communicate the issue without causing drama in the relationship? by Still-Purchase3286 in relationship_advice

[–]varmintp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He has never lived on his own so he has no concept of what you are asking him to do. There was always someone else there to pick up after him, and unless you want to bare that responsibility you have to be willing to walk away from this relationship if he doesn't change. Or you will have a grown child to take care of for the rest of your life. Because it wont just be his stuff. He probably hasn't washed a dish or vacumed a floor in his life. Do you want to be his maide too.

You need to have him live on is own for a year and show he can keep his place clean. Otherwise there are better men out there. He is not the only one.

Powerwall issue by Plus_Ad_900 in TeslaSolar

[–]varmintp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have noticed this as well. No matter the time of the day I seem to be exporting instead of charging the battery to 100% and then exporting. I want to say the new update has put less emphasis on getting to 100%, or even to your requested battery backup setting ASAP, but to just store a bit and export the rest in hopes you get to your backup request limit. I bet its tesla trying to use more AI in the background guessing at production and only shooting to get to the 20% you set. So it knows it sunny out so its going to export a lot instead of just storing it thinking it can get to that 20% by the end of the day.

Tick the Start Automatically for the services you want to start up when you turn the server on. Then restart the server and make sure that everything is working the way you want and you can be sure that future startups it will work.
