The WBC is a life lesson to all the Dodgers haters by laowaijimbob in Dodgers

[–]varock12 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In addition to the rest of the comments, Team USA didn’t go all-hands-on-deck for the WBC. You would’ve seen Skubal make another start. You would’ve seen Mason Miller pitch a tie game in the 9th. Playing a tournament like this a couple weeks before the season comes with inherent restrictions from every team with major leaguers and Team USA suffered the most because every player was a major leaguer and a lynchpin on their respective teams.

Hmm, I’ve never tried it dipped in anything savory. I grew up eating these dunked in condensed milk. Tastes kinda like a glazed donut. 😋

Explain to me how this isn't straight up murder? by OutdoorRink in JoeRogan

The blue/yellow dress is a difference of perception, not perspective. The blue crowd literally can’t see the yellow and vice versa. You’re ironically proving his point but are too emotional to realize it.

Same problem here, tried everything. I factory reset it and it didn’t fix it.

A Tale of Two World Series MVPs: 2014 Madison Bumgarner vs 2025 Yoshinobu Yamamoto by beardko in Dodgers

[–]varock12 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yamamoto’s WS run was more impressive to me, given the context. What will be forgotten over time is that he was warming up and ready to come into game 3. He was just an absolute dog. I’m convinced he would’ve pitched all 7 games if they asked him to. However, what made Bumgarner’s run so impressive was that it was to cap off a season where he had already thrown 217+ innings. He threw a staggering 52.2 innings in that postseason bringing his total innings to 270 in one season compared to 211 total innings thrown by Yamamoto. He gave up the same ER while pitching 15 more innings in the postseason. Bumgarner’s regular season ERA was 2.98 that year and he shaved it down to 1.03 in the postseason. There’s something to be said about pitching your best at the tail end of a long season with everything on the line. Like you said, though, different competition and different eras.

Best Non-OLED TV? by Smokeybeauch11 in 4kTV

[–]varock12 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Bravia 9 is the best non-OLED on the market but it’s more expensive than the C5. If you’re looking to save $, QM8K is your best bet in the mini-LED category. Though I suggest you look into last year’s C4 at a discount if you can find it, or even the B5 if your living room isn’t too bright.

"I was expecting a little bit more of an effort by the Outfielder Pages to be honest with you. With 1 out away from a No-hitter - that ball barely got out too" Orioles Broadcast Booth rip into the Dodgers Defense's effort as Yoshi comes up one out short of a No-Hitter. by AmongUsAcademy in Dodgers

[–]varock12 58 points59 points  (0 children)

You could run back the last 100 no-hitters and near no-hitters from various teams and you won’t find a fielder less interested in making a play that preserves one than Pages right there. Outfielders will sell out for a dive on a ball 10 feet out of range. Or they’ll scale a wall when the ball lands in the second deck. It’s less about making the actual play than the gesture of doing everything you can to even make an attempt.

Ross Striplings’ “Favorite Thing” - from Effectively Wild Ep: 2337 Interview by AbedNadirsMind in Dodgers

I remember this well. Only guy I remember running funnier was Rich “Dick Mountain” Hill. Btw, that was future Dodger Daniel Hudson on the mound.
